Security for rear lane access

    Hi there

Am interested in a property with that has a very quiet rear lane access as do all the houses on the row. At the moment it looks like a 6ft wall with a large garage-type door and a smaller pedestrian door to the side of it.

Just looking for thoughts on how one might make such a setup more secure?

    Thanks

You could fit an external contact to it . Would there be an easy option to wire to it. ?
If not how far is it from the house?

Thanks - forgive my ignorance but what is an external contact?

Its quite far (relative for a dublin back garden) at about 40m from house. I think there is electrical wire running down to it though for future proofing purposes.

Are you looking for an electronic security solution or physical locking options.?

Apologies I was probably a bit rambling in my original post. I'm looking for general security options that may prevent burglars hopping the wall into the back garden from the lane but also preventing access through the gates. The contact option (I get it now) for the gate sounds good and feasible - thanks for the suggestion.

Any ideas for the relatively low wall?

Anything re toppings on walls or fences etc now is probably illegal or at the very least will require lots of warnings etc.

Yes it would seem that way given the neighbours' back walls all look the same.
    Thanks for the help!
