Hiya quick question about roof slates. The back half of my house has the slates on upside down since built about 10 years. There is a shiny "coating" on all the rest but the back has a dull matt finish facing up. Im just wondering is it any harm? Other than aesthetics of it will it reduce the service life of the slates? Make it weaker or anything? Thanks in advance.

Could be different slates. What do they look like from the underside - like the slates on the front?. Strikes me as unusual that someone would make such a basic error

I believe they are the same. The underside of the back is the same as the topside of the rest. Yeah a very basic mistake alright. In fairness its such a random thing it take two years for me to notice. I just taught that side of the house was more dirty.
