Accessing bbc/itv players in Ireland

Is there any way to do this. I downloaded a vpn app and it allowed me to view the bbc. However when it came to itv I wasn't allowed to download the itv hub player. The same for My5 (channel 5). As far as I know it is legit to discuss this. Thanks
