Ok, I have 08 SMAX 2.0ltr diesel automatic. Tax is 710 on it and mileage currently 150km. I just put a brand new set of tires on it at cost of 300 quid. NCT up next year but has full service history etc

The timing belt has not been done on it but it is due at 200k km or 10 years old.

I have option to trade it in today and dealer is offering 5k for it against a Alhambra.

I was going to swap but Misses who will be driving the Alhambra is saying to wait a few months as I don't have to worry about Timing Belt yet. I hate the thoughts of the timing belt going bang so would prefer to let it go.

Just wondering what are people thoughts, would the car lose much over the next 12 months? It is also going to be over 10 years so not sure if that is issue with insurance anymore?

The car is running perfect, has a good spec and really only thing it is missing is bluetooth.

A lot of things could happen new car prices in the next 6 months. Are you looking at a new car? You own car will not depreciate significantly more in 6 months.

Why not sell the S-Maxx privately? Even if you sold it for what the dealer is allowing you then you can negotiate a straight deal discount off the new car.
