    Interesting how much effort they went to force him to sign 'a contract'. Abusers will often work very hard to establish that the abused is somehow in their debt. They have to feel righteous. The whole concept of debt is historically based on the debtor somehow having stolen from or wronged the creditor, justifying the creditors abuse of the debtor. That whole mindset of conflating debt and crime carries on thousands of years later, even as recently as Ireland over the last decade.

    Slavery has never gone away. It is still widely practised throughout most of the world. Europe made a decent effort at trying to stop it, but its a global issue. No one region can stop it.

    They broke into my mother's and father's house some years back and robbed my mother's engagement ring as well as assorted electronics. Gardai told us they'd done several houses in the estate that week and they'd actually caught them in one and had later released them.

    It really grinds my gears that they got ethnic status because my own families story about them is only one of many. We all know what they are about.

    Ignoring your pig-ignorant racist bile... giving official recognition to the fact that Travellers have their own unique ethnicity does not give them extra rights above the rest of the population.

    This is extreme. I'm pretty sure most travellers don't keep slaves and weren't there some cases of settled people having slaves last year too? By all means let's talk about problems with the travelling community of which there are many, but these people did what they did because they are scum not because they are travellers.

    If I park a trailer on the side of the road, fashion a clothes line from a ladder hanging out over a main rd held up by a piece of rope and had animals and kids running riot, do you think the gardai would be long moving me? But they need a high court order to move a traveller

    Irish travellers.... a great bunch of lads...... Anyone with half a brain would hope they roll up close to them(all to share their diverse culture to help enrich settled people's lives and show them where they have went wrong)

    Hope you don't mind me ignoring your idiotic generalisations, but if, for some reason, you chose (despite presumably not being a Traveller) to park a trailer on the side of a road, you'd have the exact same legal 'right' to do so as someone who is a Traveller.

    Well it does, actually.
    It gives them the right to take any business owner to court if said business owner refuses them entry to his premises.
    If I am a known trouble maker, and a pub owner refuses me entry to his premises, I cannot take a case against him/her because I, an ethnic Irish person, is being "discriminated" against.

    But if I am a traveller, in the same circumstances I can take a case and reasonably expect to walk away with sever thousand euro.

    In our local County town within the last 3 weeks, there was an enormous traveller funeral for a husband and wife killed in a car crash in London.

    Every single pub bar one closed for Friday and Saturday night, rather than risk offending said mourners, and possibly also having their premises trashed.

    One pub stayed open, the one that always serves them, and the "home from home" of a wide assortment of unsavoury characters.

    If someone refuses you entry to their premises on racial grounds, you have the very same right to take them to court.

According to a member of the gardai I can be instructed to move on if I park a caravan on a public road, they can act if I'm causing an obstruction or nusience. The gardai cannot do a thing in a situation where a herd of travellers pull onto the side of the road. The council needs to apply for an order from the high court. They don't need a high court order to move me.

    So that means that just under 80% of the prison population are non-Travellers, then? Less than their population proportion, for sure, but on a numbers basis most of the criminals in the country are non-Traveller Irish.

    My friends's house was robbed by a bunch of non-Travellers a while back. They took her <<whatever>>. Vile scum, those non-Travellers, they should all be ....

    They can instruct them also. Its when its refused the high court order is required.
