Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GAA cancel semi final tickets being resold above face value

:D good, stick it to the profiteering touts.

In the past I've been given 2 Ai tickets and given one at face value and that's the way it should be.

As of now there are 55 tickets on seatwave and 51 on viagogo. Has Croke Park actually cancelled these tickets or is it just bluster?

They have a business relationship with ticketmaster. I'm not sure why but some tickets go on ticketmaster with most seeming to go on sale through tickets.ie.

Ticketmaster own Seatwave so surely the GAA could force Seatwave to prohibit selling these tickets through their existing relationship. If they don't it would imply they are not serious about dealing with the resale of tickets above face value.

I would never sell a ticket above seat value, but is a seat not a commodity like anything else? A piece of jewellry, a piece of art etc.

The GAA themselves sell tickets to a final for a premium, why shouldn't somebody who is lucky enough to get one?

It's all bluster. There is no way to reliably implement it.

Next you'll see some granny in the news who has had her dying wish crushed when her ticket was cancelled by mistake

It's very easy to implement. Each seat has a unique barcode.

How do you prove the ticket was oversold?

Viagogo and the like will just indicate the section the ticket is in.

Also, even if it does mention an exact seat number, it may not be correct and certainly not enough to cancel a ticket

Well there are 4 Hoganstand tickets for the Mayo - Kerry game on Seatwave for over €66 each (face value is €45). Section, row and seat numbers are visible (section 336, Row SS, seats 22 - 25). There's the proof in this case.

Quite frankly, if the GAA don't cancel every ticket on Seatwave and make it very clear to Ticketmaster to stop the carry on, they're hypocrites. Plain and simple.
Personally, I think all GAA tickets online should be sold on tickets.ie.

Seatwave are an absolute scam of a website and Ticketmaster are the same. Cowboys.

You can pretty much track the stand tickets - but the Hill/Nally would be harder to enforce
