My fellow mods and i are just discussing our start date. We need 25 players, and since we dont have them in the Aug start, it kinda makes the decision more straightforward.

I should explain our plans for the sat/sun starts.

Based on the feedback from previous games, we wanted to post the rules on Saturday, keep the thread closed for a day, and then open the thread and send out the roles on the Sunday as per normal, with the game proper (munches, lynches etc etc) commencing Monday morning.

Kind of a super soft launch to allow everyone to READ THE RULES SUPER CAREFULLY.

Even if we go with the Sunday launch, we really would like to proceed with the above plan, so that is our intent at this point in time.

    Thoughts?

you wouldn't believe the post I have wrote up but didn't send. lol. I'll send it now anyhow.

I recall a suggestion that the 1st post which includes the rules could be posted early then either thread closed or message saying do not post in thread until zyx o'clock on xyzday. Then we, as a group, can discuss the rules freely, unaligned, outside of the game up to a point when GMs say, 'role pms going out'.

There are good points and bad though, so maybe some debate prior to sombody making a decision might be helpful.

In prior games, there has been plenty of discussion regarding rules in very early stage game. is pre game discussion taking away from in game discussion.
if in-game, people asking about roles that they see issues/quirks with the rules then others take it as someone asking questions about their own role, even though the rules are vague regarding the queried role. If this discussion happens pre-game, then the vague rules get bashed out before roles are handed out and this incorrect leap is never made.
Less likely that rules need to be changed mid-game, which has happened in the past and has people questioning if they are going mad, seeing thing, remembering stuff that wasn't there or not.

Is this something the GMs of this game might like to try before your game? if not, i'll throw this in general discussion thread.

I think I should get the prize because I'm great. In fact, I think I should get a secondary prize as well just in case I don't like the first one :P

However we are now ready to award the second prize.
