Hello. Long term browser, first time poster. I'm
Asking for a friend btw. Genuinely.

Anyway, long story short, probate of an estate done in U.K. Long and drawn out, solicitor made an absolute fortune out of it. There was an issue with the transfer of monies and change of foreign exchange rate which resulted in solicitor being billed 1500 for exchange rate penalty.

He's chasing the executor who lives and resides in Ireland for the 1500. Getting very nasty and threatening letters and the such. He's on about appointing a solicitor in Ireland to bring the executor to court in Ireland for this sum of money. My question is,,,, is this an idle threat, can the courts here in the Ireland make an order for a debt in the U.K?????

The cause of the foreign exchange mistake is in dospure but the English solicitor is not willing to discuss this and is just looking for the money. Obviously if this was to go to court the executor would argue that the issue wasn't of his doing but he's wondering if it would come to that or is the English solicitor chancing his luck????
