Don't know if you remember me saying about constant disconnection issues a while ago lads but I seem to have rectified it.
The main problem was being part of the preview programme as far as I can tell.
I was onto MS about it and stating about the connectivity issues and how there was a batch of One S with the same problem.
Well I left the preview programme after speaking to MS and the xbox one has stayed connected ever since. About 5 weeks solid :D

Pretty sure this means the update is rolling out for everyone now.

I have seen the lag on the old dash on other consoles, on 2 different consoles I think and in both cases it just never registered as lag to the person, as in it just didn't bother them at all. Even just pressing left on the D pad to pull up the sidebar was taking about 2 secs. It just never registered to them even though I was able to reproduce it on their consoles and show it to them.

Also I should say, it's only the first time you open it. Then it seems to have it cached and works fine. I wonder if instant on is more responsive as it might have menus cached. I might give that a try.

Here's some good news for you:

Having serious lag issues since last update game freeze's if I try taking a pic or video, thought last nights update might have sorted it but no. Anyone else have similar problems?

    Nothing wrong on mine.

Apparently, you can now hide tabs on the home screen by pressing down on both thumbsticks and pressing y.

Seems this was a 'debug feature' that they didn't want to make public and will be taken away shortly. There is already a UserVoice / Xbox Feedback requesting to keep this feature.

Although I don't think MS are going to give up their screen real estate where you can advertise games and content to users in a hurry.

Any idea when the code will drop for original Xbox BC in the testing rings? :)
I seem to remember it being pretty soon after E3 for the 360 stuff 2 years back!

Hey Folks, not sure if this is available to everyone but the Insider Hub got an update this evening and with you can sign up for the The Creator's Collection, basically games people have made and are self publishing to the Xbox Store.

It seems to be the spiritual successor to the Indie Games on 360, there are some simple games in there some are free and some you can buy.

New update coming tonight/tomorrow for alpha ring insiders.

Looks good, very customisable. Hopefully the speed is actually as fast as the video.

Just a reminder for everyone, this is the first release of this version, so expect a lot of bugs and rough edges!

Hmmm. I like the new guide, but I'll have to use the new home myself to see because it looks like a kind of pointless rearranging right now.

To be honest, if they really let you customize it, I'd love to just make it look like my Windows Phone/desktop Start Screen/Menu. Xbox needs Live tiles! As it is, I'll be one of those people who just has Home & Pins.

Yeah, I might have the Xbox Club there, but that would be about it. I can see it would be handy for people who just play the one game all the time, like Destiny or something.

There's one nice little thing I've seen so far, and it's "Alternative Port Selection". It finally means that you can have two Xbox Ones on the same network, and not have to worry about upnp on your network.

It definitely feels faster to me, especially after being on ps4 for 3-4 weeks came back to it last night and was laggy as hell but feels much quicker after the update

This actually does have a massive amount of wasted space having seen this summery of it.

Sometimes "whitespace" can be a good thing, especially when you're designing a Living Room Interface. But in this case, I don't know why they're taking up just quite so much room, where they could easily fit just one more row of tiles in instead.

Also, does this mean custom backgrounds are gone, in place of stupid game backgrounds?

The wasted space is a bit weird. It's like they've left room on the left for an image of the game, as they have in the old dashboard. Perhaps they haven't updated the images for the games yet? It's a bit weird.

In saying that, I don't spend much time on the home screen, now that they've got a functional guide. The guide is what I care about most, to be honest, and it's pretty good in this release so far.

The ads thing in that tweet is stretching it a bit too. The Gold tile is a good shortcut for me to get to the Games with Gold and Deals with Gold, the suggested friend is not something I'd ever use, but I wouldn't consider it an ad either, and the tips and trick is much the same.

It'll take a bit to get used to it, but it's a good start. Probably better than the last one, imo.

No, it's just if you don't have one set.

Any improvements on the store? I think this continuously gets overlooked because their stats tell them that most people buy online or via the xbox app. Without considering the fact that people do that because the store on the xbox is so atrocious.

Yeah, they're not all ads, some of them are what websites might call 'engagement' units, they're getting you to use a function that you already have access to, rather than trying to sell you something.

    What a point!
I've always used xbox.com as the console interface is awful.
Now they are screwing up xbox.com by integrating it with microsoft.com

I wish they would add an option to the store where you could sort games by price.
Sometimes I might have about a tenner on the account and it would be nice to see if there is something i can get for it rather than top it up

I use the app or website because I'm not usually at my Xbox when I decide to buy a game and it's easier to search using keyboard. No real need to use the console store either with automatic downloads.

This. I'm almost always in work when I decide to take the plunge.

Watched this vid last night and was excited at the prospect of customization. I'd be fairly minimalist in my needs on the dashboard, as in I find the majority of it to be just noise.

Okay, having played around with it for a while now, and I'm not a fan of the home screen. It's not bad, per se, but it's just not good either.

The guide on the other hand, is very well done. It's a proper refinement of what was there before, and I love how it handles spotify, with a little flyout bar.

Apparently you can now group copy games from one hard drive to another. Would have been handy a few weeks ago when I upgraded my external drive. Ah well, at least it's there now.

The guide functions well in terms of speed and layout but they never seem to get it just right in terms of what should be there when you access it on the first tab. To me it should have short cuts to friends, Messages, headset controls and party. As it is and has been it has shortcuts to games which I'm unlikely to ever want to switch between while I'm playing a game already.

Yeah, I like the Blades callback, where you can actually go a few levels into particular menus in the Guide, rather than having to immediately open up to another full-screen app.

It is, but it won't show up in the Store search for me yet. If you goto this https://www.windowscentral.com/spotify-live-now-xbox-one on your Xbox's Edge browser, and hit the green Download link, it'll open the Store page and let you install it.
