I'm in the UK, so I just went through the store. It's pretty good, easy to set up with the spotify connect method too.

They said it would be available in Ireland too, so I dunno why it isn't listed yet, but it works fine anyway. It's nice to have finally! Though, pretty clear it's designed mostly for consumption, you'd have to use the desktop or phone apps to do a lot of the playlist creation stuff.

Ah thanks for that, see I can see all the levels except alpha when I go to manage what ring I'm enrolled in. That means that I had no idea how to get alpha access and just assumed it was a level cap!

Some subtle changes have made it better alright. A bunch of fixes as well, thankfully, so now the main part of the dashboard, the customisation, is actually working for me.

Don't worry, you didn't want it in the state it was in first for Alpha ring - well intentioned but very basic. Some wireframes still in places and you could see the potential for where they want to go.
There's a bit more polish now, but still quite rough in places.

Yeah, the fact that customisation was one of the biggest features and just didn't work at a basic level meant using it was a pain. The litany of bugs related to it was ridiculous, like really basic stuff like the fact that customisations would disappear after restarting, or the fact that you couldn't remove some of the panels once added, etc...

It's in a much better state now, but I'd imagine another build or two before it hits beta.

Any games I had installed on internal storage are gone with this update :mad:

New update out tonight, minor fixes.

Also, beta will get it next week apparently.

I'm surprised there haven't been more updates. The main area you boot to needs far more work on it.

Internal builds are pushed daily. Preview groups only get builds when they are ready to verify something or fix an existing issue.

One of the complaints about it is that they got the speed increase by making everything an extra click away, i.e. the guide is faster because it doesn't have to load your friends, you have to click the friends button to show your friends, and that's where the lag has gone. It's more than acceptable to me, but others do have a valid point.

If your using Spotify, just click the Spotify "Now Playing" button and all the controls will pop out. It's the same for all the background players.

New update out tonight, bringing a light theme, and some improvements to notifications, with invites moving to the Multiplayer tab, and Achievements moving to the achievements tab. Makes sense. The light theme won't be available until later tomorrow.

Beta users are still looking at getting it sometime this week.

The light theme is out now, and I was right when I first heard about it: It's great on the guide, not anywhere else.

Beta users should be getting this tonight as well.

Guide looks great now it's had a few tweaks, thought I'd like the light theme but I wasn't keen on it.

I still think the main area of the dash is terrible and needs some serious work.

The store is now referred to as Mocrosoft Store.
When you launch it, it has a Windows style logo now!

After upgrading to the S I seem to be on an older version of the dashboard again. Are the releases tied to our consoles rather than gamertags?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's tied to the console and you have to reapply through the app. I'm in the same boat.

You should just be able to enroll your new console, and then it'll be picked up when a new build is pushed out.

Yeah, all build groups are tied to the consoleID.

Gifting has gone live for some in the alpha ring. You're able to use a new button, "Buy As Gift", which lets you purchase a game either for a Gamertag, or an email address. In both cases, a game code is delivered to the email address.

Now for wishlists and shopping carts....

Just download the Insider app again and you can re-enrol your new console. That's what I did after switching to the S about a year ago.
