Any ideas? Something more interesting than the standard Jameson, paddy, powers, teachers, johnny walker red, etc.

I see sometimes dunnes have a west cork 10 year old single malt for €30. You can get regular Connemara and Tyrconnel, and Kilbeggan 8 year old for €40 or slightly less.

Aldi and Lidl had some special editions in a while back, for €25 and €30. The smokey Islay was nice, but haven't seen them in a while.

Connemara is "interesting" in that it is a peated whiskey and unlike any other Irish brand. It's a nice drop too, if you like smokey flavour. Jameson Caskmates is also decent and should be got for under €40.

Jameson Black Barrel is quite nice too, can be got under 40 in the supermarkets quite often.
Also the new Slane whiskey is tasty
