It will be interesting to see how many years Sky will be prepared to pay for this sort of one sided match.

    They've signed a deal to 2022.

Jesus Monaghan really failed to push in since 13-14. Thought they would at least put it up to the Dubs today.

Why have a super eights when some of the last 8 teams are out of their depth!

Monaghan should be ashamed of that first half. Terrible tactics and no intensity at all. Dublin are jogging around and cutting them open without doing all that much...

Absolute rubbish from them. They have plenty of men back. My f**king granny would pat me on the head with more intensity than some of the Monaghan lads are putting in to the tackling.
They could get a well deserved pasting here.

    Monaghan look very poor.
Drew Wiley is finished. Out on his feet after 30 minutes.

What people fail to realise is monaghan are incredibly average. They have stayed in division one by playing full strength teams while other teams aren't at full tilt. This is virtually the same Monaghan who played mayo in February in the first league game. Some of their players are average nothing near the level required to beat Dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,792 ✭✭✭robbiezero

The only good thing about the these two rancid games this games is that it really whets the appetite for the clash of the titans of the two winners today.
Both of them playing at a far higher level than the cannon fodder they faced today.

Writing has been on the wall for Drew and some of the other defenders since the championship began and the ground firmed up. Twice the Down forwards had a field day against them, so very unlikely they were going to fare any better against Dublin.

You can't be too hard on monaghan though. Looking at the resources available to them in population, etc, they are doing well to be consistently featuring at the top 8 in both league and championship. There are other counties that could do with getting as much out of what they have as monaghan do.... Cork, Kildare, Meath, Galway etc, I'm looking at you guys!

    Super 8's my arse.

I doubt 'quality of game' is how they measure whether its a success or not.

Your right All Sky are interested in is getting subscribers.

The GAA management are gob****es burying this behind a paywall.

Did they not learn anything from the Cricket and how that became so niche that most have forgotten it.

First it was to bring it to a bigger worldwide audiance. That didnt happen.

The Aussies got it for free and dropped it the first year.

The viewing figures on Sky are attrocious. A tenth of what was traditionally viewed.

But the GAA god bless them dont care about the fact that they are meant to be encouraging viewing of the games. You would think 100million per year without TV rights would be enough.

Even if they don't have the quality of Dublin the one thing you should expect from them is intensity. There are no hits going in at all. Several times the ball went from Cluxton to over the bar without a monaghan man getting a touch on man or ball. That's not just not being good enough, that's just no passion or desire. They were pretty poor the last few weeks and I wasn't optimistic of their chances here, but this is worse than I could have imagined...

Only Kerry and Tyrone have some chance against Dublin, but the gap between the rest seems be getting bigger and bigger each season

Don't know why all the faux outrage is out there, it's pretty obvious every single year that there are 4* top teams in the country, and after these 4 teams there's a pretty big gulf to the rest.

It happens in every sport until the top teams meet each in a competition. Piss and moan. Piss and moan.

*(Mayo the exception atm but you know what I mean).

There is not too many quarter finals in any sport that are as bad as 3 of the 4 of that we have seen e.g. Rugby world cup, soccer tournaments etc. The gulf between the top and next level seems to be exceptionally high in Gaelic Football.

Dublin are an all time great team they make everyone look poor.

Armagh are a division 3 team and look to have overachieved, most teams **** the bed against Kerry because it's Kerry.

The hurling championship was like this when it had an all time great team in the 00's.

Greatness makes everyone look worse than they really are.

1-06 without even sprinting, not many can do it

Will Dublin out-do Tyrone and win by more than 17 points?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,405 ✭✭✭munster87

Have Dublin conceded a free yet?

I enjoy it for what it is personally and I laugh at some of the moaners but, in fairness, there is a difference between moaning about some of these gaps in standard and bemoaning such a gap.

We should have 4 very good games left after today I am sure and it has been a decent championship with some great encounters and a few shocks and some very good football

At least it is a small step forward from the days when Kerry could win an all Ireland by playing a couple of serious games. Galway won one of theirs by playing exactly three games in total.

Any proper sport decides which is the best team by playing a home and away league, not a knockout competition based on unequal provinces.

    Screw the super 8s.

    A championship: Dublin, Kerry
A championship qualifier: Mayo V Tyrone

    B Championship: Everyone else.

Sky can have the A championship.

I think the A championship should only include teams who won an All Ireland in the last 60 years.
