Query on the Ford Mondeo TDCI ST

Hi All,

I have a 2005 Mondeo TDCI ST. I have seen and heard a few of these cars going around where when the accelerate and change gear, you can hear the wastegate sound. Im not getting that from mine, should I be concerned ?. I did have a small hole in the mid section of the exhaust and when I changed gear I did get that sound, any ideas. Everything is standard in the ST apart from the K&N Panel filter in the airbox. When I got the mid section changed I was told that the backbox was just a standard backbox and not the one for the ST, does it make a difference ?.

Also can a Dump valve be fitted to my TDCI ST ?. I know it does little for it and it may only for the sound affect, but can it be done and where would I go for get one and have it fitted ?.

Dump valves don't work on normal diesel because there is no sudden close of a throttle to make it dump.
What you are hearing in a diesel is the turbo spooling up and down in the exhaust and cavitating a little.
This can be heard when you have no cat/particle filters and an open exhaust.

However, while it is a nice sound be warned diesel particulate is nasty for human health.
So keep in mind you are dumping nasty stuff out the exhaust if you do this.
