agreed. I'm a big fan of mkhitaryan, but there is no way he did enough last season to be considered for a best 11, he had trouble making our 11 sometimes and we finished 6th!

Probably not if going on last season, suppose I'm thinking potential as well.

Same as Lukaku, would have Aguero over him and Kane on par but this season will tell.

he finished the season last year with 11 goals and probably missed the first 2 months of it because he wasnt even in the squad.

started this season like a house on fire, scoring and creating goals. he is nailed on to be a starter in the opening games this season

re Mkhitaryan, didn't Klopp and or Kagawa say he'd need until the second season to start showing everything. TBF to him he finished last season strongly and got a lot of important goals in the Europa run. Jose also seemed to have been picking him in his first 11 selections regularly in pre season which would indicate he's in the first 11 come the start of the season.

Can anyone with any knowledge of major knee surgery comfirm that you can't recover miraculously faster just because you are Zlatan. This notion that Zlatan has some sort of miracle ligaments is ridiculous. If he thinks he can rush himself back just by firmly believing it then he might find himself reinjuring himself like other sports stars have.

Catching up on Graham Hunter pods this morning and he started a new part of his Big Interview series, which is latest news and info he has gotten from contacts and the likes and talking about the latest headline stuff.

Granted depends on how much you value his sources, but his understanding is it's a shotoout between Madrid and City for Mbappe, and that his advisors are looking moreso for assurances of his importance and regular football and developement as a key decision in where he goes. Madrid seemingly indicating to Mbappe's team, that should he sign for Madrid, Bale will be offered and likely willingly move to United paving the way for him into the first team.

Said it with some degree of certainty, a fit and firing Bale would certainly sort our right flank out. That's a title winning signing right there imo

One that would get debated constantly but I'd personally feel De Gea and Pogba are certainties, but you'd still get people argueing for Courtoius or Lloris, and then saying Pogba wouldn't get in ahead of others.

I can barely separate Aguero, Kane and Lukaku so would imagine that would get venomously debated also.

But De Gea and Pogba for sure.

Well depending I guess on the spin put on it by his agent, but it does seem to be fact that the consultant and surgeons were absolutely gobsmacked by his muscular composition for a man his age, and have inquired to his availability upon his retirement to partake in a number of tests for a case study.

I always equate doctors as just people mechanics. And knowing enough about cars and mechanics like I do, opinion can differ along with a person being pessimistic or optimistic etc. I slipped a disc in my back about two months ago and the prognosis was varying depending on the activity. But golf, my now mainstay sport, I was told it would be 8-12 months before I'd be back playing to my level, and it was unclear if my swing would be affected. 5-6 months before returning to the gym for weight work and football (back affected from impact on joints in legs) was given 5 months before a full return to even just casual five aside.

Last week played my first 18 and was absolutely fine and played well, and have been back in the gym a month doing higher weights that before. Granted somewhat reckless on my behalf, I dropped back into the doctor in question to just be like "here I'm fine" and after a scan and stuff he described it as an edge case, nothing special about me or anything, just a rare situation where the disc slipped back perfectly in place and recovered faster then expected.

So while there was an obvious thing with Zlatan of "Right this might be bluster to secure a new deal and not scare suitors off" it does look to be case he is an edge case

Fit and firing being the key variable there. They're not going to let him go cheap and stumping up the kind of money they're gonna look for, in addition to a pretty hefty salary for someone who has had a lot of injuries over the last 2 years is a pretty big gamble.

Personally, I can't see it happening. Especially with Griezmann seemingly on the horizon next year.

I read once that there is hope that ACL injuries will be sorted in the 3-4 month bracket in time. The drawn out bit is the rehab and regaining movement, I assume if it's a good clean job with minimal invasion then someone with exceptionally strong legs possibly like Zlatan (what other type of legs would you expect him to have?!!) could come back pretty quickly.

Remember the time Henry Shefflin claimed to be fixed from an ACL after about a month to play in an All Ireland but broke down 6 or 7 minutes in? You can actually play away with a torn ACL but it will just give way every so often.

United fined £10,000 for anti-doping breaches after the EL final.

Wonder if it is players being pissed up celebrating or something more serious. No detail in the only report I have seen so far.

    Fcuking hell.

Now we know what Jose's Jones comments were about. What a bellend.

    https://twitter.com/PAdugout/status/892015636955705345

Phil Jones charged with insulting & directing abusive language towards doping control officer, given two-match European ban + €5,000 fine

Whatever about the gurrier at rb, that's what I believe Jose wants the team to end up at.

I'm surprised we haven't heard about this previously - and I expect A LOT to be made of it now.

What on earth were the players at, that warranted such a fine? Not a good look, at all.

Theres Joses reason for playing Lindelof & Smalling so, Jones banned

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,956 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

    Jesus.

Though the fines look relatively small for players on 100k a week...

Smalling and Lindelof against Real Madrid should be fun then

I'd say Blind got aggressive too much when asked to provide a sample. Trying to take em away from the celebrations like. So now we know why Smalling and Lindelof have been together all preseason

    Idiots!

Explains why we havent sold Smalling yet.

Bad form from both lads, I wouldn't be surprised if the club fined them too.

    Big by uefa standards though.

Whatever about the size of the fines - not happy with United players not-complying with regulations.

Now, maybe it was cause they were excited and celebrating, and distracted or something - but that isn't a good excuse and it is a bad look for the club and for the players. The immediate suspicion is that they were deliberately avoiding such tests cause they would fail them.

Now, it may come out (quickly via a club statement?) that all tests were taken and passed etc - but getting fined for this stuff isn't good. Just as I said the same re. City last season when they were fined for doping issues.

That looks like an unreal line up alright (minus Aurier). It doesn't change my point though. Bale has missed a lot of football over the last few years and signing him could be a punt the board won't be willing to take given his cost, wages, age and injury concerns. Especially with Griezmann seemingly on the cards next season.

Probably wanted to celebrate with their team mates and were asked to go give samples instead.

I wonder will they hold off on the Matic news, or try to get it announced sooner so that it maybe drowns out some of this....

I'm surprised the club didn't have a statement ready to publish the second this story came out.

Deal is postponed after Matic told the doctor to **** off when asked for a urine sample. #fittingin....

Still seems madness to me that our whole preseason defensive warm up was based around who we'd have available for what is basically a glorified community shield, and 1 Champions League group stage match which could be against absolutely anybody.

As things stand that match could be away to Madrid, home to Dundalk, or anywhere in between
