Wow TO, that would be great. Let me know if his brother in law doesn't take them as I'm very interested.
Are tickets easy enough to come by in Boston or around the stadium on game weekend? Would it be too risky just to fly over and hope to find a pair on the day (if your tickets aren't available)?

Honestly I wouldn't buy them outside Gillette and no idea if anywhere in Boston sells them. I know ACE Ticket now have booths outside games and do sell them but at the same price as they have on their website.

My buddy is throwing me tickets for a few of the games as he wont make them and he knows I will buy them without question and he gets his cash up front :D:D His bro in law is hit and miss so good chance I get em and if I do all yours saves me the effort of finding someone else to buy them. We will be tailgating at that game and are more than welcome to join us also.

Going to be in Boston on 10th August I see it's are playing jags. Can someone tell me is it easy to get to the stadium from downtime Boston. I see they sometimes do a Patriots train but not sure if they do for pre season. Anyone know?

If not are there any other alternatives (not driving)

They have last years schedule on there right now but it will be updated and almost sure they do both preseason and regular season as I have seen trains stop during some of the preseason games having said that some of the preseason games are outside the regular NFL gamedays. I know Hazy on here has used the train a few times as he is goes from Boston.

Train kinda sucks for 1pm games as it only gets to the stadium a couple of minutes before kickoff. But for night games it gets there way earlier i believe.

Another option if you want to sample some tailgating is Boston Common Coach: http://www.bostoncommoncoach.com/schedules.php

Its $35 return i think but it leaves early and they provide coolers so buy a bunch of beers, chuck them in a cooler and use your Irish charm to join somebody's tailgate or just get hammered in a the Gillette Stadium carpark on your own, both are great options tbf!

I usually don't do pre-season games but I will throw this out there to any Pats fan flying over for regular season who wants to tailgate. If I am at the game and you want to tailgate let me know you are more than welcome to join.

Talk going around the Pats are going to make a move for Brandon Flowers. Brings in decent experience if we bring him. If anything adds competition in camp and pre-season

I was a big fan of him in the early days, probably the best downhill corner coming out of college I'd ever seen.

Haven't seen much of him in recent times though, does he still have it?

His abilities have declined in recent years but I do think if anything the experience will be huge. Although one never knows he might find that last burst of ability if he knows a Ring could be possible. :pac:

Hawkins announced his retirement today. One less WR to worry about.

Shame but it was hard to see how we kept all those WRs on the roster.

The season opener is on Thursday the 7th of September, so America's Game should be on the night before - Wednesday the 6th. It's usually on the night before the season kick off.

One noticeable absentee from camp so far has been Rob Ninkovic. A lot of talk around him retiring seen as he has not been around. I hope that retiring stuff is not true and just him missing for a reason we don't need to know about.

Press conference scheduled for tomorrow, no topic disclosed. Could well be it.

A sad day tbh, to see one of my all time favourite Patriots hanging up his cleats. What a player, he always gave 110% on the field and so often he made the big plays that gave other players the stats. An underdog who became a key cog on our team. Glad to see him retiring healthy, on his terms and with two rings on his fingers. Thanks for every thing Nink.:(

This is a few years old but it's a nice highlight reel of Nink's hustling...

Very much a team player. Not the most gifted DE, but dedicated and a guy that you could rely on; hence why Bill kept him around for 8yrs.
As Vidic said, 2 rings, along with plenty of AFC East wins, and a lot of great moments to remember; enjoy retirement Niko.

    Yeah, great player.
He really stepped up and filled a void left by Vrabel, not sure we have a player who can fill a role in the same way on the roster now.

Ninko was a much better player than a lot of people gave him credit for. The reason for this was his versatility which should make be seen as a good thing by people but it normally counts against you instead.

From McGinest through Vrabel to Rob we never seen any fall off in production and the first two are considered great players by a lot of people. Rob Ninkovich deserves the same praise imo.

How he got there is what makes us all love his so much. He wasn't a big name coming out of college and he didn't stick with the Saints or Dolphins. He came here and got a chance and he grabbed that opportunity through self-belief, intelligence, showing respect for all around him and of course his incredible will to work hard at everything.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about him in a coaching role somewhere in the not too distant future. He has leadership qualities and he is a smart guy and it's very clear he loves the game.

Goodell is still butt hurt months later that Matt Patricia wore a Goodell Clown shirt:

FYI 30k towels with Goodell as a clown on them will be handed out for opening night lol:

    https://twitter.com/stoolpresidente/status/892468032521601024

I'd say its strong odds that Goodell might skip out on opening night.

I doubt they'll get in to the stadium. There are rules again mass marketing displays by those in attendance, and having the Barstool Sports logo on 30,000 towels would definitely go against this.

    I like the idea though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,510 ✭✭✭Hazys

Yeah the NFL will definitely be on the look out for them but it'll be tough for security to confiscate all 30k of them when they can be concealed so easily. Not to mention all the security will be massholes who might "miss" a few in their search.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭TOss Sweep

He is a dumbass for announcing it on Twitter. Way to bring attention to yourself before the game. Had he said nothing and handed them out while people walk up to the stadium security and the Patriots and NFL would be none the wiser. Now they are going to be looking out for his antics.

Security for the most part are local guys and Patriots fans. I don't think they'll stop anything which is harmless but hurtful to Goodell.

They will if they are told by the organisation not to allow it. They maybe be local but it is a paid job.

Realistically though there is nothing stopping anyone putting them in their pocket where it wont be seen.

This is great. It's Tom's 40th birthday today, and Mike Reiss has published some of the best rarely-told stories about Tom:
Mike Vrabel, Patriots linebacker, 2001-08: "My indoctrination to the goal-line [offense]: I had maybe caught a couple touchdowns and was feeling pretty good about myself, and we went to practice one day and I broke free on a crossing route or something like that. So I start yelling, 'Tom! Tom! Tom!' and I'm waving my hands. But he doesn't throw it to me. I come back, and we're in the huddle when he says, 'Mikey, if you ever wave your f---in' hands and ask for the ball again, I'll never throw it to you. I know who's open. I'm the quarterback, I'll throw it to whoever the f--- I want!' That was the last time I ever called for the ball."
Rodney Harrison, Patriots safety, 2003-08: "This was when I first got to New England, we had become friends and we were in the weight room. I show up around 6:30 in the morning and he says to me, 'Good afternoon!' So the next day, I get the hint, and come in 15 minutes earlier. Same thing: He says, 'Good afternoon!' Then the next day it's 5:45 in the morning, and he makes sure to say it twice: 'Good afternoon! Good afternoon!' So I make it at 5:30 the next day and before he could say anything to me, I looked at him and said, 'Man, I don't give a damn what you say, Tom, I'm not coming in earlier than 5:30!' We both laughed at that."
Brian Hoyer, Patriots quarterback, 2009-11: "We played up at Buffalo and we couldn't fly back into Boston because the weather was so bad, so we had to stay the night in Rochester. We drove there, and we all decided we'd go out to dinner together. Tom being who he was, he usually couldn't come to a team event like that. We might be at Capital Grille and he is sneaking in the back door and then people realize he's there and he has to leave. But this was impromptu at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Rochester. The whole team is there. And it turns into a beer-chugging contest. You have linemen, Julian Edelman, they all think they are going to win. Then someone says, 'I heard Tom is really great at chugging a beer.' We don't usually get to experience him like this, but we finally coax him into doing it. He does it, and let me tell you, you couldn't have poured out the beer faster into a glass. It was unbelievable. And he slams the mug on the table and puts both fists in the air. He walks away with a look on his face that said, 'You really thought you were going to beat me on this?' The place went nuts."
Rob Ninkovich, Patriots defensive end/linebacker, 2009-16: "One time, we were in a captains' meeting and he had a cool TAG [Heuer] watch on. So I went up to him and said, 'That's pretty sweet. Do you have a guy that I can talk to?' He has that knowing look on his face and says with a smile, 'Do I have a guy?' I told him I'm sure he had the owner, the president of the company, whatever. Fast-forward a couple days and he handed me a brand-new box. It was exactly the watch I had said was awesome. He didn't have to do that. But that's just the way he is."
Matt Cassel, Patriots quarterback, 2005-08: "One day in practice, I forgot to bring the guy in motion because I got locked and knew I was throwing to the other side based on pre-snap coverage. But I forgot the motion. And Brady immediately comes up to me right after and goes, 'Cassel, you can't miss that motion.' I was like, 'Yeah, but I completed the ball.' He's like, 'Yeah, but how the hell are you going to yell at them to be accountable when they see that you messed up that motion?' You have to be perfect at this position."
Sebastian Vollmer, Patriots offensive tackle, 2009-16: "We're playing Miami and I got beat clean by the defensive end. I'm on the right side, essentially turning around, and Tom is looking to the left. The defensive end has a straight shot at him and I know Tom doesn't see him. So I just yell out one loud, 'Toooommmmm!' He doesn't even look, steps up calm as ever and delivers the ball for a completion. Then he looks in my direction, points his finger and says, 'I heard that.' I'm thinking to myself, 'What incredible awareness he has.' Never rattled. I'm the one who screwed up and he's thanking me for yelling his name. It was like a panic cry."
