My friends sister is getting married soon. Nice girl, if a little self-important. Anyway, she must be expecting the social event of the year, because not alone has she posted "Keep calm, it's X Amount of days to the wedding" memes on FB since about January, but she had a post over the weekend along the lines of "we regret to inform you that due to our large circle of family and friends, we couldn't invite you all to our wedding on <DATE>. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, but we love you all".

It would be somewhat forgivable if she was in her early 20s taking the plunge in a whirlwind romance. But she is 41.

    FFS. Grow up Kate Middleton.

    ^^

I was talking to someone over the weekend, and the subject of weddings came up. Apparently it's becoming common here to have the Bridesmaids pay for their own dress! Anyone else heard this?

TA'd that I need a holiday but have used up most of my annual leave on stupid random days off here and there rather than a block of a week or two off. I won't make the same mistake next year :(

A tiny bit TA but more bemused at a friend having a quarter life or mid life crisis and all her recent Facebook profile photos have been more or less naked and posey. She's about 30 years old soon.
She's put loads of posts up about where people can shove their opinions, just in case anyone was thinking of airing them, lol.

Lexie, baking soda (not baking powder), bread soda and sodium bicarbonate are the same thing, and that's the taste they're supposed to have - not that it's any consolation... Saline solution is water and salt in a specific percentage, and you can make your own by boiling water with the right amount of salt in it (obviously not to be used for injections!).

Sorry to about your ears all the same.

I wonder if that could work instead of saline solution for contact lenses. I should Google this.

TA The price of contact solution. TA the price of everything.

Btw the stuff my doctor prescribed for blocked ears was just peanut oil, I read the label. So any oil like olive should do it.

Hope you're joking about this :) I think there are many things I'd rather skimp on than contact lens solution - your eyes are worth protecting.

If you buy your solution and/or lenses from an optician it's well worth checking online though, you can normally get them much cheaper.

not in my circle anyway. You pay for your own shoes if you can choose your own but if you're told what to wear then the bride pays.

    TA

I'm wearing a jumpsuit to work today, but it's a bit gappy around the boobs. I put a tank top underneath so I wouldn't be flashing anyone at work. But I'm short and the tank top covers my bum so it feels like I'm wearing a dress under jumpsuit and I can feel it bunching up at the bottom fs

This. I skimped on solution when I was 18 and I contracted acanthamoeba. It left scarring on my eye and I couldn't wear lenses for a couple of years. I had to take steroid drops every day and spend a fortune on consultant fees, vitamins etc. I wasn't even allowed to continue being veggie for nutritional reasons*. My ultimate low point was going to my debs, with one daily disposable contact lens in (the good eye) for four hours - which is all they would allow me.

    * TA that I now know a veggie diet is perfectly fine once you ensure all your nutritional needs are met. TA being younger and listening to meat eater spin.

It's the norm in America for the bridesmaids to pay for all their own stuff but I've never heard of it in Ireland.

I've heard about it twice in all my time of being wedding adjacent, both brides were well off enough to pay for the bridesmaids whole outfits, but said as the 'maids were choosing and keeping the dress, the bride didn't have to pay.

Well they could piss right off as far as I'm concerned. I mean what the fcuk are you supposed to do with a full length, strapless, taffeta, lime green dress after the wedding?

TA'd that a girl I know works just 20 hours a week, and gets the €188 in dole. She gets single parents allowance (she's still with the childs father and he stays with her most nights) childrens allowance, and has a full medical card for herself and her child. She lives in a new build council house.

I work 45 hours a week and she comes out with more money every week than I do. And I have to pay rent and I don't have a medical card, because I earn too much to be entitled to one LOL.

She told me all this when I ran into her on my way to the bank on my lunch break. Trivially fuming that I would be better off on the dole than breaking my boll*x commuting and spending my whole life sitting at my desk. Also TA'd at myself for continually complaining about things like this on this thread.

Not enough hours in the day...... or it could just be that I'm terribly inefficient.

    Either one is a T/A.

My water bottle tasted mouldy on Friday so I sterilised it and it was grand. Got to work this morning, took a big slug of water, tastes like fu*^#ng mould.
This has never happened before. I'm probably dying or something.
(On the bright side, at least I could never be accused of being overly dramatic)

    Dry eyes.

The stupid announcement in Irish and English at every.single.fúcking.luas.stop.all.the.time - drives me mental. Also the tone of the alarm just before the doors close is always off key with the music I am listening to!

Being guilted into buying shoes because the shop assistant was so nice and now although I look pretty hot in the shoes when I stand still, when I walk I am like Bambi learning to walk.

TA got drunk last night and had a fight with my parents :( I don't even remember everything I said so I cant apologise properly.

Indecision coming up on the 11th hour of the MAP time limit

Midge bites. I've normally a no kill policy but those b*stards can just GTFO:mad::mad:

Does anyone else find Flip flops or any type of Sandle that have that bit that goes between your toes agony? Shoving a razor blade and walking on broken glass. Would be more comfortable.

Turned on the cold water on full blast this morning because I always run it a bit before getting a drink. It hit the plug in the sink and splashed back up at me.

I also have an on/off headache for about 3 days now.
