Kevin Myers, jew've just been erased

All traces of Kevin Myers being expunged from the Sunday Times after he wrote an article for their Irish edition on the women's pay gap with a bit of antisemitism thrown in for good measure.

Now while we might all just roll our eyes and say, 'Oh Kevin', it seems to be kicking up a bit of a **** storm as the Brits are not familiar with him and it's forced to paper to delete any online traces and issue an apology
The Sunday Times has been accused of antisemitism after it published an article in its Irish edition that suggested the BBC presenters Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz are well paid because they are Jewish.

The Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper removed an online version of the piece by Holocaust denier Kevin Myers on Sunday morning amid a wave of outrage, but it appeared in printed editions of the newspaper across Ireland.

Under the headline “Sorry ladies, equal pay has to be earned”, Myers wrote: “I note that two of the best-paid women presenters in the BBC – Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz, with whose, no doubt, sterling work I am tragically unacquainted – are Jewish. Good for them.

“Jews are not generally noted for their insistence on selling their talent for the lowest possible price, which is the most useful measure there is of inveterate, lost-with-all-hands stupidity. I wonder, who are their agents? If they’re the same ones that negotiated the pay for the women on the lower scales, then maybe the latter have found their true value in the marketplace.”

Myers has previously written, in the Irish Independent: “There was no holocaust (or Holocaust, as my computer software insists) and six million Jews were not murdered by the Third Reich. These two statements of mine are irrefutable truths.”

...Lionel Barber, the editor of the Financial Times, described the piece as “undiluted antisemitism and misogyny” while the former Europe minister Denis MacShane said the comments were “truly shameful”.

Danny Cohen, the former director of BBC television, called on the Sunday Times to prevent Myers from writing for any News UK paper ever again.

Oh and in other news it's Arnie's 70th birthday today, movie marathon coming up

If you're paying attention to Kevin Myers, you've already lost.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

It's a pity his name is Kevin; people will think he's Irish.

Hardly surprising. He hates everyone so the Jews were probably due to get his ire one day.

Didn't he post here once upon a time?

Right wing, misogynyst, unionist, snob and all round arsehole.

This is why it's different this time, it's attracted the attention of people who didn't even know about him

What was the point of him saying those things other than to prove he's a bigot?

I'm not a fan of Kevin Myers but has anyone actually read the article?

The rush to get offended at anything vaguely controversial and the ensuing hysteria is really getting tiresome.

Apparently a 2009 Indo article where he denied the Holocaust has also been taken down in the last couple of hours.

I saw mentioned that he wrote an article denying the Holocaust a while back but it's been removed now too. The turd.

I've read what was shown on line and I'm not rushing to be offended. He has used an anti-Semitic stereotype and has been called out on it.

Aye, it was linked from the BBC but it's gone.

Yeah it wasn't the worst thing I've read this week, but still it was anti-semitic stereotyping, and in context of his supposed holocaust denying remarks it looks a lot worse

I don't like Kevin Myers at all but he has the right to express his opinion does he not?

He's been making lazy generalisations for years about races, religions, genders etc now he attacks the Jews and suddenly he's beyond the pale.....

Of course he has a right to an opinion. And everyone else has the right to criticise that opinion. And the paper has the right to retract publication of that opinion.

Here's his Holocaust article, not really flaming anti-semitism to be fair, it looks like he was just looking for a new angle to have a go at the muslims

I think it's the fact he's reached a wider audience with this one. As someone said earlier we Irish know what he is but now the citizens of his beloved U.K. can see it too.

Hmmm he's being irritatingly pedantic but he's not "wrong"

Pretty ****e article although agree it's more pedantic than denial.

Genuine question. Why are some cows more sacred than others?
He wrote an article. The editor published it and because of the particular offensive subject matter, all traces of him from the official sites are removed?

Yeah you'd want to tell him to just **** off with the 'oh it cant be a holocaust because of the greek words blah blah' stuff, but it's not really very anti-semitic, although, he does sort of skirt it by saying it became a sort of dogma but not saying 'why', which would be hard to explain without a bit of AS

Fair point. But he has written many articles for UK publications before.

I'm not sure I even understand him. Is he arguing that holocaust is a poor choice of title for what happened...? Seems ludicrously misleading to say "The holocaust never happened....because it should have a different name..." Like, what?

It's almost as if he was just being controversial for the sake of it...

Does anyone have a link to the latest offending article?

He's absolutely correct concerning the absurdity of "holocaust denial laws", especially given the context in which the Holocaust came about. He's channeling Christopher Hitchens, except Hitchens said it first, and far more poetically.

I can imagine him protesting his innocence...

From memory I think he said the use of the word holocaust was incaccurate because holocaust meant death by fire whereas he argued most of the jews who died didn't actually die in this way.So he didn't actually deny the event took place just that the word used to describe it wasn't really accurate.

It was stereotyping, but it was hardly anti-semitic.
Pro-Semitic if anything, something along the lines that Jews wouldn't sell themselves short.

Why he felt the need to introduce Jews into that article at all I don't understand, but ... Kevin Myers.
