126 goals, 6 Premier League winners medals, along with 2 FA Cup winners medals & 1 Champions League winner medal, not bad for £1.5 million pounds.

And a good example of why building a winning team does not need to be about spending hundreds of millions on whoever is currently termed to be a "top, top player".

I firmly believe that there are lots of players out there perfectly capable of being the next Neymar/Shearer/Giggs/Solskaer, that there is not a big gap between most of these superstars and the next level of professionals.

Far better to spend good money on the next Suarez than mortgage a club on the likes of Neymar.

why use neymar as your discussion point?

Where does not spending the money inter want on Perisic fall into that argument?

Why is neymar the only point of discussion in these transfer debates? We have also not bought Matic, dier or Perisic, or moved for Fabinho (as an example).

Dendonker available for €25m or so.. would be great for the squad at that price but still think we need an experienced player like Matic in there

I'd happily use Persic if you want, because I damn sure believe there are other Perisics out there for the taking, he is absolutely an example of a player the club should not be held to ransom for.

Fellaini being linked with Galatasaray - reports in turkey apparently saying he has agreed terms.

Consideredjng how short we are for midfielders and how key he can be to Jose's more pragmatic approaches I can't see any way we let him go. We arguably could do with two midfield signings without selling a third CM since January.

But is that not a different argument entirely, to whether we should mortgage the club for neymar? Surely in that argument the likes of Perisic, whom we have failed to do a deal, is the type of team focused signing we should be getting done - but we aren't even doing that.

Only way I'd believe that is if two midfielders (Matic and Dendonker?) were pretty much done.

On one hand, I would have no issues seeing the back of Fellaini. But we really would need to have other signings all but wrapped up at that point, as it would leave us with just Herrera and Pogba as 'true' and proven CMS (TFM being too young/unproven but I would like to see him being given a real crack this year along with Herrera/Pogba/2 more CMs, and Carrick I reckon will be used more like Giggs/Scholes towards the end of their careers - starting quite rarely and coming on late to stifle opposition and slow down play).

I think the point is obviously that we are not scouting very well if the only names we can come up with are already established stars.

I feel like Jose's transfer strategy is a bit flawed, and the way he blabs to the media about having a very short short-list of players, giving that to Woodward and then going off on his holidays is not a great signal to send out in doing deals. Is he even using a scouting system or just watching games himself and deciding?

Bailly looks a great signing to be fair. If we're comparing Solskjaer's transfer we should probably say that would be around the €10m mark in today's market. Also it's a lot more difficult to look for an unknown talent because they are KNOWN nowadays. Very doubtful that a Solskjaer today would still be playing in Norway at 23 years of age. He probably would have been snapped up by a United or Chelsea and loaned out a few times already.

There have been reports about Fellaini agreeing a deal to move away every window since he joined, yet theres been nothing from the club or any manager to suggest hes anything but a valued member of the squad.

I can't see Fellaini leaving United this summer.

Meanwhile Marca say Barcelona have added Griezmann to their list of players to replace Neymar.

Isn't Fellaini in the last year of his contract? Could be agent talk or United selling whilst they still can get decent money for him

From **** sources! Great, then we'd need two midfielders.

Perhaps if Fellaini does go, we may bring in 2 CMs,matic and derdoncker/Sanchez(loan)

Only just realised Fellaini is 29! I say sell him now as his sale value will never be higher.

I have to say this transfer window has been awfully boring. I've no faith we will close out any more deals as there seems to be a lack of movement on everything. We'll probably squeeze a player or two in the door before September but it looks like its going to be hard work.

You'd be happy we are making our squad worse? Not suprising I guess.

If Fellaini is going, and to me that is a big if at this point, we must have at least two CMs incoming.

With Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger gone, the 78 year old Michael Carrick, and non-DM specialists Pogba and Herrera would remain.

On that alone I'm calling Fellaini's departure as a non-runner, even with Galatasary themselves confirming interest.

That is unless we have at least 2 CMs lined up. This could be the calm before a serious transfer storm, or nothing at all.

If the rest of the squad showed fellainis work rate and determination we'd be a lot better off.

I just can't get on board with selling him. We already could make a good argument for needing two cms. He gives his all and us an excellent squad player. I think he can be improved upon as a first choice player but as a squad option, particularly with our clear weaknesses in midfield it would be insane to sell him.

Reckon the rumors are just the stupid season Turkish rumors.

    We have Fosu-Mensah as well.

Looks like Iose sees him as a RB instead of a DM

    We have Fosu-Mensah as well.

McTominay seems to be our young DM. TFM seems to be full back.

Andreas would be our only back up with any real experience.

Wonder what is the delay with the Matic deal? He hasn't even been in the squad for their preseason friendlies.

He's not played DM at any level as far as I know. Forward converted to an attacking midfielder, no?

Pereira is not a DM either.
