Trump has done the obvious thing he was obviously going to do tonight. And that is fire Reince Priebus

I see you're joining the great exodus. Sunday will be a sort of reverse Cromwell situation by the looks of things.

Will do the Christmas shopping while I'm up here sure

The last vaguely sane, non-sycophant left in the WH staff? His time was limited.

Apparently he resigned privately but you won't hear that from Trump

Anyone know anywhere in Dublin to leave a backpack for few hours while I go Croke Park on Sunday?
I know there are lockers in Bus Aras but I'm skeptical over them, half of them look banjaxed

Jurys let my mate leave his bag at reception for the hurling the last day at Croker but I don't know if they'll allow it this weekend.

It seems like there's an opening for a business venture there.

Got up this morning, logged into twitter and saw a cop in the US coming out against Trumps latest speech. Yet again I was left thinking "what has he said now!?". Turns out he's encouraged the police to rough up foreigners basically. How have we gotten back to this type of nonsense. Has modern society really learned nothing at all.

    Sad. :D

Any chance of a trip to Dallas...near a book depository perhaps?

Oh God, and make him a martyr of some sort!? It'd just be nice if people didn't support clearly horrendous human beings like Trump.

You're talking about Americans... conservative Americans in places like Louisiana who openly refer to Obama as the n***a Muslim president... they lap Trump's shïte up....personally I'd rather he was impeached... but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he was euthanased

The really instructive thing in all of this is that as of a Harris poll yesterday 44% of Americans still approve of the job Trump is doing. While I think Trump is a complete tool, it still strikes me that mainstream media in the states, as in the UK and to a lesser degree Ireland, remains hugely out of touch with the population.

It also suggests to me, that America is a failed experiment of trying to force together completely disparate entities. While I would be a strong European, i think there are lessons we need to learn from the US.

When I was younger I used to think that it might be nice to live in America, probably brainwashed from all the TV & movies they output. As I've grown older I've come to appreciate what a truly ****ed up place it is. Not in a million years would I live there, nice for a short holiday but that's about it.

Actually the news is at the core of those issues. Right wing hate radio and Fox news have turned everyone into the enemy. The fear mongering is insane. Just look up Alex Jones (who Trump has quoted) and google some of his finest moments.

Media in Ireland isn't always great, but you have to appreciate how central they are politically for the most part.

I love the poll back when Trump approved the air strikes in Syria. The ABC poll found:
37 percent of Democrats back Trump’s missile strikes. In 2013, 38 percent of Democrats supported Obama’s plan. That is well within the margin of error.
How about Republicans? Well, that’s a wildly different picture:

In 2013, when Barack Obama was president, a Washington Post–ABC News poll found that only 22 percent of Republicans supported the U.S. launching missile strikes against Syria in response to Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons against civilians.

A new Post-ABC poll finds that 86 percent of Republicans support Donald Trump’s decision to launch strikes on Syria for the same reason. Only 11 percent are opposed.

Two sets of air strikes in retaliation for Assad using chemical weapons. Identical circumstances but look at the swing. Democrats stay the same, but Republicans shift from 22% against Obama and 86% in favour of Trump. For doing the exact same thing.

These people are hopeless. America needs to invest heavily in education or the "failed experiment" tag will prove true.

Someone mentioned the Lemon Meringue donut from Off Beat.

    I also endorse.

I think you're jumping the gun a bit on America. If a neutral carbon rod was the democratic nominee for the president it would have gotten elected.

Trump got in in very very special circumstances.

America has it's problems but it's a long way away from a failed experiment.

I would also question the accuracy of that poll.

    Job approval is around 40%

Showtime doing their all access stuff for the May/Mac fight. Gotta hand it to the guy. I remember reading these off topic threads back in the day when TRT Brock was bouncing heads off the floor pre-Conor. Who would have thought we'd end up here?

"This is garbage" Tyson says as he tells the interviewer that the belts he has arrayed out and perfectly displayed as the centerpiece of the room mean nothing to him.

So I barely watch any rugby league but I have the Hull Leeds game on because a good few mates are Rhinos fans. Is an intentional knock on just not a thing? A player just incredibly obviously intentionally knocked the ball on to stop a dead cert try and it just resulted in a scrum from what I can see.

Does anyone know where a good Reuben sandwich can be acquired in Ireland?

I've a hunger for one but I don't want have to go all the way to the UK for it

147 Deli on Parnell Street does some of the best sandwiches in Dublin including their Reuben. I recommend their club sandwich too.

Meet and Meat on South William Street is a good option if you don't want to come to the dark side.

Near the junction with Marlborough Street but on opposite side. My pair spent first 3-4 weeks in the Rotunda. 147 was visited extremely frequently.
