There's pretty much no doubt but that many people are becoming desensitised to porn, and are probably seeking-out harsher, more violent porn online.

And it isn't just violent and degrading acts that are becoming more popular, there is academic research showing that the appetite for younger-looking females has increased substantially.

There may also be an basis to the argument that porn sexualises racism. Women are branded as 'submissive Asians', often engaging in some fairly aggressive sexual acts with men.

Sometimes, the argument is made that porn merely reflects what is 'instinctive' or a natural drive in sexual activity. After all, have you ever seen birds or mammals mating? It is almost invariably aggressive and violent. It's likely, indeed, that some reproductive benefit has accrued to aggressive sexual males who breed with females before their more timid competitors.

But that's a nonsense argument. We are a species who base our civilisation on an ability to escape enslavement to our instincts. All sorts of negative behaviours are likely to have a basis in evolutionary history; it doesn't mean we must wed ourselves to such behaviours, like other animals. Our human consciousness, and our conscience, permits us to desist from such activities.

It was deeply unpleasant and from what I saw I doubt all ladies involved enjoyed it...

Back in the day the "actresses" seemed to enjoy the act. Of course everything was a lot hairier back then.

Maybe they seemed to enjoy it, but I don't think they actually did. I remember reading an article on Linda Lovelace, and she definitely did not enjoy it, quite the opposite.

    Porn is very violent

Have you seen the stats from the Royal International Porn Society from 2016?

The numbers of midget related injuries is shocking.

I work in a bar for money and not to enjoy it, I still more or less expect not to be raped though.

Strange definition of rape to consider doing stuff for money rape.
Inherently it isn't rape. Unless you go down the line of thinking all jobs are slavery.

Apparently women prefer violent porn more than men do.

The popularity of 50 shades and vampires and attraction to bad boys all reinforce this. So blaming men might be barking up the wrong tree.

"A quarter of straight porn searches by women are for videos featuring violence against their own sex. Five percent of searches by women are for content portraying nonconsensual sex. While men still search for significantly more porn than women, search rates for these more extreme types of sexual content are at least twice as common among women than men."

"We don't know if they're looking out of interest, or doing it because that's what their boyfriends or hook-ups want, or if they're actually masturbating to it."

LOL .... Why is everything so complicated with women?

And yet on your infamous thread entitled 'what is wrong with bestiality'...

I don't want to rehash that here, but that was about the legality of bestiality. I wasn't claiming that bestiality is in any way healthy or palatable -- quite the opposite.

I think violence in porn is unhealthy and personally, it doesn't appeal to me. But it shouldn't be illegal either.

That's not what she meant. Read it again.
