EI896 From Cork to Faro has turned around and is diverting to Dublin. EI-DEA.

Did they say why? Dublin more equipt to deal with whatever issue it has?

BA have a 772 en route from LHR to Dublin as BA9173. Did they intentionally use a 777 for this flight?

I always thought that BA did their own painting either in LHR itself or Cardiff.

Normal EI policy they want no other airport only Dublin.
During the days of the trans atlantic compulsary stopoven at Snn , I witnessed several EI acft overflying on the flimsiest of excuses.
But then the pilots bacon and eggs were ready in Dublin !

Surely the possibility of a replacement aircraft to get the pax to Faro would be a more realistic reason?

Was that the big BA 777-236 according to flightradar24 app that took off about 18:45? Never saw one of them and the turn it took eastwards.

Why would they need to use Shannon for that kind of testing and not Toulouse ? Is it just because it's a quiet airport with long runway?
