I make it just before getting into bed, as in I shake out the duvet. I've never understood why beds need to be made in the morning, according to some.

I can't sleep in a bed where the duvet isn't tucked in at the bottom of the bed, don't know why but it drives me mad. I used to go out with this girl who would completely undo my made bed every night before we went to bed, she hated a made bed. To be honest I probably should have seen that as a clear sign that we were incompatible

Yeah, I'm always bemused when I stay at someone's house and have to spend the few minutes before bed dismantling an intricate installation of cushions and pillows. And then I feel bad throwing them on the ground. I just want one pillow please!

I like one or two cushions on a sofa to hold on to when I'm curled up or a sacrificial cushion to balance a dinner plate on that it's OK to spill food on. But multiple cushions on a sofa or bed just confuse my brain.

A lot of people have mentioned bed-airing and it reminds of me of one of my mother's quirks from my childhood; we were never allowed to have friends over for an impromptu sleepover or have a sleepover in any season than summer because my mother would get us to drag our mattresses outside to air against the side of the house in the couple of days before the sleepover. We were not allowed to have a sleepover unless the mattresses of our beds had been aired outside. Madness, Ted.

Let's just say, I've had a turbulent decade that made me realise that a lot of social niceties are just a bit unnecessary. My house is clean, a bit of messiness simply doesn't matter to me.

That feels trapped to me. In hotels I always kick the tucked in bits out.

I straighten my duvet when I get up. It feels better

As said, my house is clean. Where did you infer anything about my hoovering habits from my posts?

On the tidy bedroom thing, I don't look into my bedroom much or at all in the evening and if I did, a messy bed wouldn't matter to me.

Using the same bed more than once is disgusting, I burn the old bed and replace it with a brand one with new sheets.

The thought of people using the same bed over and over again send shiver down me spine.

I sneak into your house everyday and swap the old bed and new bed around so you have just been burning the new beds each time :P

Why? They are two separate things. Making the bed (as distinct from changing the bed linen) doesn't make the bed any cleaner. Hoovering the room removes dirt and dust and does make the room cleaner. Making the bed makes it look neater but it is still as dirty as an unmade bed. And indeed, leaving it unmade airs it out better. Making the bed is all about appearances and I don't care about that.

Fitted sheet and a duvet.

The second I get up I fold the duvet back to air the bed for the day, plump the pillows and straighten them up.
Takes all of 40 seconds and makes the room look tidy.

If I came home and the bed was unmade, I'd have to 'make it' before getting in. Luckily I share my bed with no one so this never happens

When I get out of my bed it tends to look made with the top corner folded down. So I tend to leave it like that, but some mornings I'll straighten it up if it doesn't look good. There is the other times I make it look like I'm still in it to freak out my daughter.
