Dulux Vinyl Matt

Hi folks, I was doing some painting in a house last year where I was trying to paint over walls that had previously been painted with a vinyl silk...and it was a complete nightmare. I was using a Matt emulsion, and every roller stroke would lift the paint I'd just rolled on. I got it done in the end, bu undercoating the walls with a strong Matt, and then topcoating over that.

I'm going to be doing a room in an apartment soon, and the colour chosen for the walls is Dulux Warm Sands, a vinyl matt. This colour doesn't seem to be available outside of the vinyl range. I'm not worried about the colour itself, my question is will the same thing happen when it comes time to paint this room in the future? I.e., will any new paint rolled over this warm sands lift off again, because warm sands is a vinyl? Or is that only a known thing with vinyl silk?

I'm not hugely knowledgable with paint types, just trying to prevent a problem in a few years! Thanks folks

Hi, go ahead and put on the vinyl matt, no problem like with the vinyl silk. While it is a vinyl, and you may have to give the wall a light sanding next time, the matt will enable easy coverage. PS. If you are ever sending a wall, you can buy a sanding head from Johnstone's that fits onto your roller pole. This lets you sand a wall in minutes.
