Fintan O'Curraoin is one of the worst footballers I've ever seen put on a Galway jersey. I just do not see what he offers. Has absolutely no place on the same pitch as a Kildare midfielder for example.
Just not a helpful comment. I would not say he is the greatest ever, but not the worst by a long way. Putting comments like that on public forums is not helping the team or the people involved.

What's boards.ie got to do with helping a team? They've got plenty of their own people to do that. And actually tbh, maybe if Galway footballers realised their true level and weren't hyped after stumbling over the line against a 14 man, off form Mayo team who were without Aidan O Shea then they might have been better able to mentally deal with falling behind to Roscommon.

Obviously my comment saying he's the worst ever for Galway or whatever was exaggerated, christ above ye know what I mean. He's not good enough and doesn't have the skillset to ever be good enough IMO for a team that wants to beat Dublin or Kerry in August/September.

I've noticed your posts on Galway tend to veer towards sticking the boot in as much as possible.
Galway were gutless, comer was thuggish or some similar word, fintan o curraoin is one of the worst Galway footballers you've seen?

You do know the articles in the national papers talking up galway after the mayo win weren't exactly what most people in Galway thought?
The indo had Galway 4th in rankings after the mayo win, this week they're way down, so nobody in Galway thought they'd win an all ireland this year after the mayo game.
Mayo weren't good enough to win against Galway, Galway aren't good enough yet to win an all ireland. Mayo have yet to show they're good enough and are running out of time.

I doubt they got hyped after beating Mayo it's not as if they beat Dublin, it's a team they'd also beaten the last time they played. Agree about failing to deal with being behind to Roscommon. When they had got themselves back in it they just couldn't drive on.

I think Donegal will beat Galway and Mayo will beat Cork. Mayo could well win the All Ireland this year.

Outscoring Dublin could be the rock they perish on.

If they beat Donegal it could be the makings of this side. They haven't beaten a proper team (outside of Mayo) in the championship in a very long time. It could be the watershed moment for this panel. A lot of these lads were on the panel that nearly lost at home to Waterford.

They tend to play well as underdogs and this team and mgmt have been hounded for that Rossie game.

The kickouts mightn't be so bad on Saturday.

It's not a Race Week so their heads won't be filled with false hope.

    No 6 day turnaround.

Those are the positives I'll be clinging to on the drive up.

I honestly think Galway are going to win this one.

Hard to be enthused for this game. I don't think Donegal are going anywhere fast, they are in a transition stage that I think will prove difficult for them but having said that they're still a Division 1 side, tactically they're streets ahead of us, and they've tended to have the edge over us in championship over the years. Hopefully we can redeem some pride on Saturday at least but honestly even if we get through this the thought of what Kerry would do to this team doesn't bare thinking about.

Is there likely to be 2 or 3 k from Galway going to game?...Donegal will bring a big crowd...am a nuetral but might go to it.

Not sure how big a crowd will travel from Donegal either. 10 and 11 k attendances at their last two. Still will probably outnumber us 2-1 at that.

I doubt many will travel from Galway. Notorious county along with Cork for not travelling when they don't have a good team.

Thats what success breeds. Im 36 and have seen both counties you mention win all-irelands in both codes in my lifetime. Not too many other counties can make that claim.

Eaaaaaasy now MaroonAndGreen. You'll have yourself all worked up by 5.

I'm going for a look myself. I'll probably bring another fella with me. If we spot any obvious Galway men on the way I'll let down the window and the two of us will roar abuse at them for not travelling.

Be very few from Galway there.

That's got nothing to do with the point. I said both counties don't travel well when when they don't have good teams. 5pm in Limerick and 7pm in Sligo today will prove this point. I'm not taking a dig, I'm stating a fact.

I'm not taking digs as I said in the above post. If anything I hate teams in any sport claiming to be "big" or whatever because they have good support. Liverpool are an example from another sport, you hear more about their great supporters than their trophy cabinet in the last 30 years, I wonder why? It's pointless.

I'm just simply saying Galway and Cork fans do not travel well. And in fairness, Sligo and Limerick aren't the most appealing of venues :P

Maybe. I know a lot of lads who went to Connacht final not bothering today.

No team announced yet, but apparently FOC is out.

In the Park hotel and no Galway people here. Not a good sign.

    I blame the Arts Festival.

We just love our cultural enrichment too darn much.

A lad was telling me a team he 'heard'. Ian Burke and Farragher to start apparently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭jam83

I'm expecting a big performance from Galway but keeping the team under wraps till now smacks of fear. It's taken away some of my optimism.
