Or enjoying the ride too much!

I passed one Ducati(a Multistrada) yesterday and passed over 10 BMW GS's.
Multistrada rider saluted and none of the Gs's did.

I'll tell you who never waves. Harley riders. They're in their own clique and they're not bikers - they're Harley riders. Also, BMW riders. They never wave. They think they're all high and mighty on their BMWs, think they're better than everyone else. Also, sports bike riders. I think they're too busy concentrating on being in the power band for max acceleration, and they're not real bikers anyway, a trip across the gap when it's sunny is all they do. Also tourers never wave. They're out for their sunday jolly, trying to do 800km a day with sore arses, only waving if you have panniers and a top box. You can forget about scooters or noobs on their 125's, probably don't even know what a wave is. Ducati riders never wave either, I think they only wave at other red bikes. Not real bikers anyway, doing about 50 miles a year and spending 2k to cover their services. Forget about couriers and commuters too, they're not real bikers anyway because they just have a bike for convenience, not because they love it.

Can we put this biker wave shíte to bed now?

I waved at a cyclist this morning who had decided to lean on the back box ... as the lights went green. I waved back at him as he lay on the ground in shock :D

Daffodil riders like to wave at everyone.

Commuters dont give a rats ass who waves at them. They just want to get to work. Unless someone pulls up beside them for a chat.

You could end up waving at the same guy 600 times a year on a commute.

I noticed on my ride to larragh on Saturday I passed about 50 bikes and the only bikes to nod or stick a leg were fellow sportsbike riders.

Don't give a **** but thought it was odd.

There's a salute! The IBT instructor didn't mention this 😀

As a noob am I even allowed to yet? Would I get laughed at in my shiny L Hi-Viz on my 125 Maurader? I was thinking I'd wait a few months till I'm riding something decent and have passed my test before making gestures at other riders. Not gonna be rude and ignore anybody but I don't feel right initiating salutes atm. Only contact with another rider so far has been a nod with another guy on a Maurader at lights.

What's the general done thing? A nod?
Sorry for the noob waffle but I'm a bright shiny noob!!

sometimes I nod, some times i finger gun, or peace sign. sometimes a 'right on' fist. most of the time I give the full on Forest Gump. - especially when they are on the other side of a dual carriageway

As an owner of a Real Sportsbike, having owned - and repaired - many BMW's, having just sold my Vespa after 24 years ownership, but kept my Road King which i use most days, I find all of the above BS. I wave at all & anyone.

In fact, today I was forced to wave to myself.
