    Hi all,

Have a Sony Vaio Laptop and today when I opened it up i got the lines that are in the picture. I can still view the screen, but those lunes are really annoying.

I opened the back of the screen but there doesn't appear to be any cables lose or anything.

    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried an external monitor or even your TV if it has an appropriate input ? Would help isolate the problem.

    Hi Ken,

Yes it's perfect on an external display.

Does flexing the screen gently change it in any way ? How about pushing the display right back and closing it again, any difference ?
Looks like the LCD may be faulty but this last test would test the LVDS cable from the laptop to the LCD.

Also, with the external monitor connected, make it the main display with the laptop screen as the extended display and try changing the resolution to something lower than native. If none of this makes any difference then it's likely the LCD panel at fault.

They're simple enough to replace and can be bought from about 50 euro and up depending on model.
