Ah here. Saying "dance for me boy" to a black lad in America is a dumb move. It's weird that people think it's not. Sure have a go yourself and see how it works out ;)
There's no need for cultural appropriation, we don't need to jump on the race war bandwagon that's going on in America, that's their issue. Americans, and Irish people, need to realise it's a different country, with different cultures, and things can mean different things in different countries.

I missed out on all of this racism stuff. Is a large portion of the American media calling McGregor racist? Is Floyd calling him racist. Not joking at all here. Obviously racism is sick and I get how ''dance for me boy'' might be seen as racist but like really? In the middle of cringe filled press conference.

The press conference was in America. McGregor needs to learn the above.

I think the comment has definitely put McGregor in a difficult position. He should really give some form of apology but how can he do it sincerely without breaking the bravado act which has worked so well for him?

Again it's now pointed out with McGregor because it's against Mayweather.

It's not in isolation, it's a pattern as I highlighted with previous build ups to his fights.

Then we have national treasures left right and center going by this.....

I guess it juts devalues the meaning of the term if that is the case.

So this fight means nothing as in there is nothing up for grabs, it's basically a con job by two great actors to get the people to watch it. It's a bit like a WWE match, this fight is going to be a show, a form of entertainment.
I know I will watch for that reason, to see what happens.

why are people going on about racism?
some twitter "black sports news" hack tried to stir the pot by editing comment from Conor over a clip of Apollo creed to make out he was calling Apollo a monkey.

To be fair nobody in the Mayweather camp has suggested that Conor McGregor is a racist or that his comments were racial. It's mostly the media a people on social media who are accusing him

The term "Boy" when used in the context of a white person to a black person, in America, is considered racist. It like a less offensive from of the N word. I had origins back to slavery.

I don't care, I don't think the rest of us should pander to American ignorance. It's rife in the US, the dumbing down of everything so as not to confuse the lowest common denominator. Why should the rest of the world join in?
So this fight means nothing as in there is nothing up for grabs, it's basically a con job by two great actors to get the people to watch it.
It's a fight, hundreds of thousands of fights take place with nothing up for grabs, should we stop all forms of sport than don't have something shiney as a reward?

The fight IS a meaningless match, but not because there's no title on the line. That logic makes no sense tbh. The vast majority of boxing matches have no title up for grabs.

Who said anything about stopping it?

I think the poster was just calling/describing it......spot on too.

Wouldnt it be hilarious if the public didnt buy it, like if it generated say just 400k buys!

You can't deny his following. I know many people who don't follow sport whatsoever and he's able to bring them into his support like no other. He has more publicity than any Irish sports person at the moment.

My personal dealings with fans like that and I have to say some genuine fans of MMA also, they will not address his previous behaviour with willful ignorance to it.

I'm not generalizing everyone but that is my experience and I think it's for the most part too.

He can still win an RTE sports awards which shows people didn't really care about his history.

You'd be surprised how many gullible idiots out in America there is, they are swallowing this whole promotion thinking its 100% legit bad blood.

They're both pretty racist to be honest, money and power etc.

I've brushed off McGregor's racism for a while (Aldo, Diaz , Dos Anjos etc.), blaming it on ignorance and passion but I think he's just digging a hole for himself now (sure not like he cares what I think). I don't think the 'dance for me comments' were too bad, I feel he would have said to anyone, but he has aired on the side of I am a white conquistador I will raid your favella before (Aldo) and the comments from the New York event last night were just ridiculous. Just have a slight bit of decorum like.

On the other hand, Mayweather is rich to be shouting racism all the time considering he did say he'd cook Pacquaio up in a sushi roll and eat him with some cats and dogs. Think he went and called him yellow too? Hmm.

Two ignorant idiots, end of story. Think I'm going to try tune out of this fight now, but realistically I probably won't.

No not surprised at all but just think it would be really funny if the public actually said no and didnt buy it.

I hope for my sake they can keep up the illusion. Toronto had me with lovely blinkers on, getting excited about a farce fight, but New York was like a peak behind the curtain and now the show is sorta spoiled.

Seems to be no real bad feeling between these two fighters, McGregor will stand up and say his piece and get in the face of Mayweather who sits there and doesn't even notice as he's talking to someone. Then Mayweather has his turn and again McGregor sits there are plays along. Then in the interviews afterwards Mayweather will play it all down and tell everyone he is an old man and rusty and talk more about breaking a PPV record more than anything else.
They are using their ability to entertain to generate a huge pay day. It's hard to knock it
as they will achieve their goal. It's a smart bit of business for both. Would not be surprised if outcome was already agreed as part of the agreement for Mayweather to fight him.
