Tbf, if you end up living the life of the protagonist in that movie, it's going to be a pretty bleak existence and you're going to be doing your level best to avoid having to deal with zombies on a regular basis. I actually thought it was a pretty good movie.

Breakfast club is a great movie, long time getting around to finally watching It But well worth the wait.

Before I Wake is a good suspense thriller/scary movie about a couple who foster a boy who has unknown talents!

Tonight's viewing was The Age of Adeline. Listed as sci-fi/fantasy I reckon it was closer to a romantic drama. Beautiful film about a woman who stops aging.

If you liked Benjamin Button you'll like this one too. :)

1 Mile to you is really good. About a guy tortured by the death of his girlfriend in a bus crash.

Queen of the south is very good. Annoyingly it is good enough that my wife is continuing to forge ahead with it after I go to sleep.

A modern form of infidelity imo.

We've a few shows like that, I have a habit of drifting off and have to play catch up before we watch the next episode.

One thing I thought was very well made and interesting, which I thought I'd never like, is The Crown. Looks great too.

The Circle . Thought it was awful , good overall story but the film is a mess and they don't explain the ending and you never find out the bad guys plan.Emma Watson is terrible and Tom Hanks is in it for about 5 minutes.

When I Fall Totally predictable film in which it takes the main character ages to figure out what everyone else would figure out pretty fast. Slightly better then The Circle but not much.

    War Machine
It's always something of a pleasure when Brad Pitt remembers he can be a decent actor, especially when he picks a good script at the same time. I wasn't sure what to expect of War Machine but it was a lot wittier than I might have guessed, and Pitt's physical acting was at the same level as in Burn After Reading. Definitely worth a couple of hours of your time.

The 9th Life Of Louis Drax
I'm not really sure what to make of this. On the one hand it's pretty well-made, it looks good, the performances are pretty good, but on the other...there's a fundamental flaw to the entire thing that got under my skin all the way through and was never adequately resolved. Jamie Dornan plays a doctor treating a child who is described as "accident-prone" after the child falls, in suspicious circumstances, from a clifftop and ends up in a coma. The film uses a magical-realism gimmick to have Louis narrate aspects of his life and history while in a coma, interspersed with both Dornan's efforts to treat Louis (because he subscribes to some poorly-elaborated nonsense whereby a medical practitioner can suggest ideas like telepathy without being laughed out of town) and the police investigation into the disappearance of Louis' father (who they suspect pushed him off the cliff).

The problem the film has is that Dornan's character is a contradiction - on the one hand he's supposed to be a well-regarded doctor who gives TED talks, but on the other hand he's apparently ignorant of some fairly basic questions that he ought to have been asking in the context of the patient (questions like
"Hmm, I wonder if there might be child abuse going on here, if this kid keeps having accidents or injuring himsef?" and "Munchausen by Proxy, that's the condition where a parent intentionally injures their child in order to get attention, yeah? Have we done anything to eliminate that possibility here?" and "Is it wrong for me, as a married man, to start trying to slip my mickey to the mother of my patient about 35 seconds after I first meet her?"
    ).

It was recommended some time back, but only caught Tower over the weekend, I think the fact it was rotoscoped put me off. Big mistake.

Good documentary about the sniper shootings at the University of Texas in the 60s told from the perspective of people who were there.

I was aware of this through popular culture but only of the fact someone shot a load of people.

Interestingly for a documentary it doesn't mention anything about the murderer, not even his name (I think), and I found reading up about him worth a read afterwards for some background on him.

    Worth a watch.

Forgot I had a VPN set to America when I was glancing at Netflix. Saw FRIENDS and got excited as it meant I could bingewatch it from the beginning. Until I was promptly blocked from doing so.

    Bah, let me watch it.

Watched A Good Marraige last night. A Stephen King thriller about a woman who discovers her husband's dark secret.

    'Twas ok. 5/10

King wrote the screenplay for the film, too. The whole thing sucked. Flatter than a really boring TV movie.

Comedy Central UK showing it is why Netflix can't. They have the exclusive rights, to 2019 IIRC.

I remember when it was added to Netflix and US people on Twitter were super excited about it. It was only then I realised they haven't had it on a constant loop for the past 10 years. It's never not been on TV here since it finished. E4 used to have it and now Comedy Central.

    I watched The Violators tonight.

It's about a young girl, Shelly, who has been abused by her dad and is now living with her useless older brother and their younger half brother in a crappy council estate. When they discover their dad has been granted parole they panic and Shelly is forced into a relationship with a local loan shark her brother owes money to as he promises an answer to their problems. At the same time she meets Rachel, a teen from a better part of town, who also has a connection to the loan shark and ulterior motives for befriending Shelly.

The first two thirds of the film are decent, if grim and slightly upsetting at times, but it sort of falls apart by the end. It builds to an interesting climax but then sort of fizzles out when it gets there. Some of the plots don't really have a resolution and the tone of the ending doesn't really sit well with everything that's come before.

It's an interesting debut from writer/director Helen Walsh who adapted her own novel for the screen and Brogan Ellis as Rachel gives a pretty great performance.

Ozark looks good, although I don't like the Breaking Bad comparisons made with Walt and the Jason Bateman character, setting the show up for a possible fall due to what some people expect it to compare to.

Having said that, Bateman is getting a lot of phrase and the show is reviewing well.

Watched it there myself tonight, really enjoyed it. Sure it's a bit cliched at times, and it has the most basic of plots but it does it all so well that you don't care. The lad playing Conor did a decent job at the Irish accent too.

The Wailing Loved this. Another brilliant Korean Movie. At the start it feels like it might be a silly comedy but that changes as the story progresses. The ending is very good , twists all over the place.
