Dana knew it was bombing because he got up 'Conor McGregor everyone' and got the hell off the podium. He was the only one up there with the cop-on to know that fans did not show up to see old guys thank each other. People came to see a back and forth between Conor and Floyd and they didn't get it with those individual speeches and mic-cutting nonsense.

conor should bring his own mega phone just as an option.
    sound might be better too.
hope mcG pushes the rules up there, like ask the press have they got any questions, or something.

maybe they will slowly build this up, maybe that is their intention but I am not convinced. You would hope so cos more of this, not sure if I can be arsed.

He made that clear when he summoned Conor up for the face-off at the end. Conor will get some good insults in over the next few days but can't get around having to stick by Mayweather's rules in the run up to the fight

Yeah I'm not sure it will even bother McGregor too much to be honest. He'd definitely prefer if he could get up to his usual tricks but he'll happily stay on line to make sure he gets his pay.

I didn't see the Dana interviews but MMAfighting tweeted that part of the deal is MCGregor doesn't have to fight again if he doesn't want to. It'll be a bit of an anti climax of this is the last we see of him competing. Now that McGregor promotions is a thing though it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Dana backtracking about Conor fighting again in the UFC
“I had a bunch of guys who worked for us in the UFC and made a bunch of money and they’re gone now. You know? You just don’t know, if he’s going to come in and make this kind of money, he might never fight again,” White said.
That’s part of the deal, you know?” White said. “This kid has done a lot for the sport, a lot for the company and this is the fight that he wanted, so we’re going to give it to him. And if this is the end of his career, then it is what it is. “

I really hope they are building it up. Maybe they felt if they let the two have a back and forth that the first presser would be amazing and the rest would be a bit crap just rehashing the same thing. Fingers crossed.

Well Floyd did a sight better at presenting himself than all of Conor's other opponents, you've got to give him that, he wasn't cowed but there is really no point in reading anything into any of this.

What's he said from the start? Get in, make the money and get out. I wouldn't blame him one bit to be honest, as disappointing as it would be. Pro fighting is no joke and when he's made that money it wouldn't be a bad call.

Yep hes always said it but nobody expected this lottery win hes come into, anyone buying it I believe is enabling his potential retirement, we could have McGregor Ferguson up on that stage today which kills me.

No it won't effect anything in terms of the fight itself, would be good to see them change the format for the next ones to allow McGregor shine a bit more but as you said there's no way he oversteps the line. Probably a massive loss of earnings if he lays a hand on Mayweather.

Dana will probably say at tomorrows presser that McGregor has agreed to fight Khabib at the north pole.

    Mayweather was actually amusing.

Let's hope they get to converse a little more over the next few days.

Yeah they definitely need some back and forth. I thought Conor was gonna fire up a capoeira kick during the face off.

I'd be shocked if anything changes. Mayweather clearly controlling everything, works for him. No reason to change.

    Double A-side, eh lads?

I wish Conor was fighting Sr instead, that exchange was well better than the main one. Sr is a gas man!
