I put some new Wiper Blades on my 2005 Toyota Corolla in preparation for the NCT. Correct size blades.

    Passed the test without issue

The issue is the drivers wiper blade is extremely noisy at the maximum point where it changes direction from upwipe to downwipe.

there is no issue with the wipe across the windscreen its all nice and smooth, its just at the change direction point.

Ive had a go at bending the wiper arm but not making much difference.

    Any ideas ?

Noise gets irritating after a v short time

What brand are the wipers? How clean is the windscreen, possibly try some glass polish on it to clear any build up of oil or other contaminents.

their halfords brand, went for them rather than bosch as the last bosch I had didn't last long, didn't get 5k miles from them ive a feeling

is it possible the halfords brand aren't as banana shaped as the bosch and that is causing the problem, was comparing earlier

Do not do that, you will ruin the wiper arm. Go in to a main toyota dealer and get a set of genuine wipers. If that doesn't sort it out it could be a worn linkage.

Wash car and see if that removes whatever is making the rubbing noise.

I have never had any luck with blades that weren't OEM. I always goto dealer now and pay the extra, well worth it.

As mentioned; clean the windscreen. If it's still present, there's a friction hot point at the end of the arc due to the curvature of the glass, once the rubber has to change direction. Use a soft (5B or softer) pencil to cover the edge of the wiper blade, along with a small bit of the underside of the blade near the edge.

Little bit of polish on the rubber normally solves that problem
