Being stuck on a plane can be uncomfortable at the best of times, but navigating a rude seatmate can be downright painful. Model Natalie Hage found this out when she confronted a plane passenger who “fat-shamed” her by sending “mean and ugly” texts about her weight while she sat next to him.

Don't condone what that chap did in being rude but why was she staring at his phone anyway? Mind your own business. He was texting, not shouting it to the heavens.

Mod Note: No cheap pot-shots mocking her body. As a BBW model and as that was part of what caused the kerfuffle, that she is obese is relevant, but joining the conversation to try out your comedy "man the harpoons" routine will get you kicked out or carded.

She didn't receive any abuse. She snooped in on someone else's business and decided to get offended.

Unbeknownst to him, Hage is also an admin of legendary anti-body-shaming movement on Instagram.

She can approach the issue at any angle she wants but carrying this kind of weight will never be socially acceptable, and rightly so.

Guy shouldn't be making comments about a stranger but we all do it anyway...and to be fair ya wan is disgustingly obese. "Plus size" being understatement of the year. Sad that people don't have the balls to tell her to lay off the cake and to stop endorsing such a ridiculous way to live.

Who do you mean by 'people'.? It's no ones business how many cakes she eats. Certainly not a strangers.

He was a passive aggressive bully. He must have left his phone in view if her if she was able to see it. People who bitch about other people rarely come to any good. She was very articulate in the way she confronted him.

He was trying to belittle her and it backfired on him.

I wonder if he copped on that she was looking at what he was texting to other people (normal private stuff) and wanted to see if she was looking in by typing something about her.
if I thought someone was looking in I would do something like that and see if they reacted

Had a quick gawk at her Instagram comments and the usual tripe admiring her figure and 'curves' is hilarious. People are becoming brainwashed and common sense is failing people. She's chronically obese and promoting it and those people are reinforcing it. That's what I mean by people.

Ah yeah she confronted it well, by posting it all over the Internet to get her five seconds of fame. Good job there. And it's clear she's zoomed in on his phone...

I heard about this story a few days ago. I was lead to believe that the model was only a few pounds over weight. A size 12/14 model. She looks a lot heavier to me.
Lots of people complain about sitting beside a heavy person on a plane. This guy was unlucky to get caught.

I think what she did was pretty courageous. It's easy to be cynical and say she only did it for fame, but it's speculative. Fact is, she confronted an arsehole and made him look like the small man he is.
