He's Irish, he's the underdog, of course there's a fantastical element to this. Logic, rationality, and facts aside, there's a fun element to it all from a fans perspective (fans of Conor that is). Personally I just love the fact that a man has gone from being on the dole, to setting the UFC on fire, and is now fighting arguably the greatest boxer of all time for riches beyond his wildest dreams - all in the space of five or six years. Aside from the different disciplines, it's the plot of Rocky 1 come to life.

Thats all true and I love his story too but its turning to fairytale stuff here that Disney couldnt write.

Agreed, and on one hand, it's silly billy stuff that takes away from us seeing him in the octagon. In the other hand though, damn, the what-if's are exciting, however unlikely. One of the things I love about mma is you are never protected, you are never safe, you have to fight and fight hard. Boxing, while capable of providing fantastic excitement too, has been guilty of having boxers protected and massaged. Mayweather v Pacqio should have happened literally years before it did, and by the time it came around, I wondered if it had the magic it would or could have had. My point is, Conor has continually sought to challenge himself, and this is a big one. I for one can't wait to see it, no matter what's written in the Disney script :)

I'd rank Conor's brain washing of these people as a better achievement than winning 2 ufc titles, its staggering really.

    Post of the thread!

Yeah, it's amazing reading all these comments saying Conor will knock Floyd no problem........ oh wait, nobody has said such a thing.

You'd swear Mayweather was fighting GGG the way people are going on about Conor.

Nonsense. I see nobody on this thread speaking about Conor as if he was GGG or even as if he was a pro-boxer.

Quite a few users who can't stand Conor even being given a puncher's chance though.

FFS point is simple, MMA gloves smaller, boxing gloves larger, opponent no. 1 some guy on steroids, opponent no 2. undefeated boxing champion. The fact he couldnt knock Diaz out with effectively his FULL PUNCH leads me to believe he wont even come close to bruising Meaweeather.

I don't see the comparison but if you want to be silly it could be said....Diaz is a good 2/3" taller with 20/30lbs extra weight than McGregor......Mayweather won't have any of that

I didn't say he didn't. Again, it's a about perception and if the media have headlines saying that Mayweather is asking courts can they wait until after the fight so he can pay them with money he gets from fighting Conor...... then Conor can twist and manipulate that.

    He doesn't think that :P

I don't think you're even trying to understand the point being made. No bother.

Pretty sure there isn't much of a point being made to understand. No bother.

Any guesses if he releases his film/documentary pre or post fight?

Showtime have employed Brendan Schaub to be the MMA analyst for this fight!

First preview up and I believe he will be on the broadcast on fight night itself...

I'll save people 20 mins if they dislike Schaub - "Conor is the A-side and can win".

He has changed his stance so, because he was saying he could win rounds, now he is saying that he can win the fight.

Does he mean he is the A-side in this fight?

Chael on MMA hour now and he is saying Conor has no chance hahaha

"This isn't boxing vs mma, this is boxing v boxing" at least he is being honest.

His stance was always Conor could win the fight, could connect with a left hand and KO him.

Just his main prediction was/is Conor will at least win some rounds.

I know he rubs people up the wrong way but I quite like Brendan, especially when he came out and defended Ronda after the Nunes fight when it would have been understandable to stick the boot in.

Knew Helwani had an agenda, done a 180 on this and went full blast promoting it laughable ''journalist'', Dana must have no call on these no way he'd want Helwani involved.

To be fair, Brendan is just saying everything I would be saying if they gave me the gig :pac:

I know most people think anyone giving Conor a chance to win should be sectioned... but I'm massively looking forward to the whole thing :)

This is the thing Wonder, I also think Conor will do much better than expected but I have nothing rational to back it up. I'm basing it on an edited 6 minute sparring video FFS :). There really is no reason to believe anything other than Conor will look foolish so when people laugh at the suggestion that Conor might win they are right, its a ridiculous suggestion.

The only hope I would give Conor is that to date, he has made the impossible possible again and again. F*** it - why not hope he does it again?

Yeah I mean I can try make the usual arguments ... Floyd being 40, Conor being 28, the 74" reach, awkward stance, great angles, deceptively quick hands ...

But the truth is it's my belief in Conor himself that makes me think he has a really good chance to win.

Sure look, if Floyd destroys him people will quite rightly tell me I'm clueless about combat sports. If that's all I have to lose in believing in Conor then sod it :)

Your belief in Conor is strong.

You seemed to be a bit rocky there for a while a few months ago, good to see you practicing your faith again!

    Conor bless

Schaub is a clown. Makes sense to have him involved with this circus of an event.

Also i agree with uncle Dana's nickname for Helwani.

I won't say too much but ever since he tweeted out my blog post, Ariel texts me every week to ask how I'm doing and to talk a bit of MMA or give me a little snippet, I'm sure he has better things to be doing than to text some depressed insomniac in Ireland, so from my viewpoint he's far from a "weasel". He's a good guy.
