just wondering if you any of you think nepotism still very rampant in hiring of new teachers in schools in general in Ireland? I thought it wasn't so bad but seems to be rife.

You were unfortunate. Only thing you can do now is keep plugging away and you will no doubt find a permanent post soon.

I've seen it in every school I've been in.

It depends on schools and sectors. Does it happen-yes. But unfortunately you'll find nepotism in every job in life. I haven't seen much of it except in 1 school where it was very bad

It's present, not sure I'd go so far as rampant.

A poor teacher will always out themselves as such regardless of their connections.

    This.

It generally doesn't take long! You'd have to feel sorry for the students who suffer in the meanwhile though.
