How to find a taxi driver (lost property)

Left (expensive) headphones in a taxi last night. I have a receipt from which I now have the taxi driver's name, car reg, taxi licence number. Any idea how I get in contact with the driver, rather than the usual merry-go-round of calling into every Garda station in Dublin.
    Thanks

If you have all that information you should be able to provide it to the Gardai and then can contact him on your behalf. If you didnt then you would need to call in to the various stations, since you have his reg and taxi number there shouldnt be as much hassle.

Try ringing the taxi regulator. Ask them to pass a message on to the driver

The Taxi regulator number is out of service so I sent them an email to which I received a response with a list of 5 garda stations (Irishtown, Store Street, Finglas, Tallaght & Shankhill) which deal with lost and found. I rang Store St. and the 'lost & found' line never picked up.

So. Tallaght didn't pick up either but Irishtown did. A helpful Garda checked their system and confirmed that nothing had been handed in to any garda station since last night and told me (given I had all the drivers details) to go back to the Taxi Regulator. I found another number and called them and they said that they could do nothing.
I offered to give my details to pass on to the driver and the reiterated that they could not contact the driver using information I had to give, due to data protection law.

Did he pick you up at a rank? If so, it's one he probably regularly uses. Ask one of the more 'mature' drivers on the rank and it's possible they may have a way of contacting him.

Dublin airport, bit of a long shot to head out there in the hope someone knows him.
It seems somewhat unbelievable that regardless of what you leave in a taxi (signed winning lotto ticket), the taxi regulator refuses to contact them and you're only hope is that they return the item to one of 5 garda stations.

The airport has a holding area with a guy who sends the cars to the main rank as far as I know.
If you can find a number for his/her office they should be able to help.
