Mk5 gti golf. help needed.

    Hi,

    Thanks in advance.

    I am looking for some advice, I have a 2005 MK5 GTI golf and i sent her to my mechanic to have the timing chain changed. The engine is an AXX engine.

    My problem is when the timing chain cover was removed, there is 3 rings that are on the Cam shaft variator, ( excuse my spelling ), And one of these is broke in half, (It looks like the round piece of a key ring), So I went to my local VW garage and they told me you cant buy the rings separate and you need to buy the whole timing chain case for 780. This includes lots of parts I don't need.

    Does anyone know were i could get 1 of these rings. Or even a second hand case.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Ill can sent pics if anyone likes. Just ask. I am new to forum so cant add pics yet.
