    No, they won't. It's boxing. That's it.

It's boxing for this one, which Mayweather wins easily, It's the next one where there will be some amendment.

Only way there'd be a rematch is if Conor beat Mayweather

Floyd will only box end of. Anyone that thinks otherwise is living in fantasy land. Even if they fought 10 rematches it will be boxing everytime.

What would make it more interesting is Queensberry rules with mma gloves

There won't be a next one. It will be one fight, standard boxing rules and that will be the end of it. This is a one off big money fight for Conor and then he will either get back to the UFC or go off doing something else.

It's a no lose situation for Mcgregor. Nobody expects him to stand a chance against the best boxer of his generation. I'd be happy to let Mayweather slap me around for 12 rounds for the money involved in this.

It's a huge cash grab operation that the casual fans can get excited about. Only one outcome in this and Mcgregor will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Floyds fighting style and lack of knockouts in recent history makes it a big payday with minimal health risk.

Against the best boxers in the world . Im sorry but here he will be fighting a 0-0 fighter . One of the best boxers of all time is fighting someone who cant jab . It will be traget practice and should not be sanctioned by Nevada ( of course it will though )

Massively, but it will never happen. Floyd's hands would be in bits after 2 rounds in 4oz gloves.

So would every boxers hands . The reason boxing gloves increased in size was to protect fighters hands not to protect the person getting punched .

Not sure if you guys know who Helen Yee is. She's basically an MMA/Boxing journalist with the biggest melons in MMA. Anyway she's also very good friends with Jeff Mayweather and Floyd Sr. She must have over 20 exclusives with them at this stage.

She tweeted that fight is confirmed for August 26th, with the first announcement/presser late this week, beginning of next. Jeff explained Floyd is more comfortable doing business with the MGM Grand (as opposed to T-Mobile).

Jeff also said he's led to believe the fight will be at 150lbs catch-weight.

I'm aware off that. But if MMA fighters can go 25 minutes in 4oz gloves, most boxers could certainly go over that. Diaz/McGregor 2 was almost exclusively a standup fight and neither of those guys had any problems with their hands. Obviously it wouldn't be suitable for 12 rounds but to say every boxers hands would be in bits after 2 rounds in 4oz gloves is a total overstatement.

Boxers hit differently due to having larger gloves. It would take time to adjust to the 4oz. So they would be at a higher risk if they boxed like they normally do with less padding.

I dont think Mayw would ever agree to fight with 4oz.

I'd have to disagree. A boxer throwing punches is a completely different world to a MMA fighter throwing a punch . They would break their hands in every fight with 4oz gloves if it went on for a certain amount of time.

On the flipside , the fights wouldnt last long once they connect. It will prob be over once one a couple significant punches landed.

I actually think they'd have most trouble defensively. Gloves cover so much more surface area and provide a good bit more cover from punches.

Lots of Mayweather's defence would be made redundant if he switched to 4oz gloves. The shoulder roll would obviously be unaffected, and might actually be more effective though.

Agreed 100% in the context of the previous comments regarding punching with 4oz gloves is what I was referring too. Both defence and offence would require big changes. Defence even more so.

I'm pretty sure T-Mobile is operated by MGM Resorts just like the garden arena. So he'd be doing business with the same people.
    Saving face?

I've no idea. But I trust the intrepid reporter Helen Yee, former champion swimmer no less.

The new T-Mobile is part of the MGM family, like half of Vegas!

Here's the actual interview from last night. Kevin Newman saying Floyd is training daily now and Jeff said Roger Mayweather is still very sick so won't be involved in camp.

I was referring to the comment about Floyds fighting style. Do people genuinely think he would have to fight defensively ? He is not fighting a professional boxer . He is fighting someone who was average enough in a club gym in Dublin . He will tee off on him at will and if he doesnt its a staged fight imo .

One mma glove, one boxing glove. Rock, paper, scissors to decide which hand is which - best of three.

Just going to throw something out there, will the 3 minute rounds be of benefit to Conor. There have been questions over his endurance over 5 minute rounds so he might be able to put more into a round. Obviously 12 over 5 is a huge difference.
Or is 3 minutes not enough for him to find his groove?

He'll be blowing hard by round 5 IMO. If he's to get TKO'd it'll between 5-8. If he makes it past than I think he'll recover and survive. I also don't think Floyd will be going 100%
