    Neither side were hearing voices in their head telling them to do it. Both had a specific aim.

    No, quite wrong.

    The British and Americans and elements of the west have been carrying out atrocities in the world during, and since our own conflict/war.

    That, like our own conflict/war did, is now coming back to bite them.

    The IRA, the Irish never had suicide bombers like Manchester arena ? what happened in London attack the IRA, Irish never went a rampage hacking people to death? The Irish, IRA thing has being very excessive in BBC news, & SKY news, in the last two weeks and it is being used in `two-fronts on what the Muslims attacks did the Irish , IRA are being talked about in the same light?. And then you have the UK General Election Irish, IRA being dragged up for the 1970s ?.

    I know it is tough on you Fred.
    But the reason the conflict/war ended is that Britain realised they were wrong and withdrew their support of one side.

    Dress it up anyway you want but the existence of an all party international agreement (the British were not willing to let republicans negotiate) negates everything you say.
    Once they accepted that republicans of all hues HAD to be at the table, peace emerged.

    Lot of absolutely ridiculous comments in this thread. Whether you like it or not, the IRA entirely and permanently stained themselves as unadulterated scumbags when their people decided to take things a step further, from protecting communities against loyalist, RUC and British Army aggression to bombing indiscriminate civilian targets such as pubs and hotels in Mainland Britain. You cannot sugar coat that or beat around the bush - that was 100% wrong, evil and scummy, just like the events of the last several weeks.

    The unfortunate and tragic truth is that there would always have been conflict here until certain things were accepted.

    What about the current actions of the DUP convinces you they would have given up their British supported sectarian bigoted control voluntarily?

    Look up ira proxy bombs. Suicide bombers, cept the bomber was not a volunteer.
