Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah damn.... the Lions just shipped it on, didn't draw the defenders well at all.

Try or no try, Payne is playing very well. Could see him push ahead of Cave up north next season.

Had they looked at the pass to Payne, they could have disallowed the try a lot faster.

Tana Umaga belief in Stephen Perofeta seems to be paying off

Not much of a surprise but Webb's passing is a big improvement from last week.

Yeah, thought some of the passes could have been held a bit longer.

The Blues are very weak against the maul, the Lions would be mad to pass up this opportunity to put the squeeze on early.

    Great maul

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Stander! Well controlled maul. Very formulaic but exactly the way to win this.

    Hands up, I was wrong

Really well worked maul. Team feels much more cohesive this week.

A few dodgy elements with that try.

Blues should have started Bryn Gatland

Webb's passing has been great, box kicks have been a bit too far though. Payne and Henshaw are also doing well pressing up on their midfield.

It does, though the support and handling could still be more cohesive/slicker, early days though

He's looking really lively, it has to be said. Going to be a great battle for the 9 jersey.

Perofeta is having a right nightmare.

So slipping in the scrum is a penalty only if you're the defending team? What's the ruling there?

There's a TV in the office and they've put the match on (god bless them), I'm too far away to see who is playing well or pick out much detail but Lions look much the better side so far?

Generally better. Far more cohesive and dominant in the front five. Nothing spectacular but hanging onto the ball and going through phases.

They look vulnerable in defence at times though.

No way that was a maul. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Blues blow a great opportunity trying to be clever setting up their maul. Scrum Lions on their own 5m line.

All from Lawes taking a man in the air at a line out. Sort of thing that will cost him a spot in the test 23.

Tend to agree. Ball was transferred to a guy who was to set up the maul but he was taken down before it happened.

Lions getting benefit of a French referee here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Lions racking up the penalties in last few minutes for really sloppy things. Another one on halfway for offside.

    Into touch on 22.

Yep, should have been a pen to Blues for Lions not rolling away IMO.

    Wtf Biggar

What a crazy crazy try. That is the kind of stuff the Lions will have to get used to conceding.

Edit: no try. Didn't look like one on first viewing...surprised he let it run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Ah Biggar - gifted that to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

That's madness from the ref, how has he not penalised him from standing there

  • Administrators Posts: 54,087 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    LOL Biggar.

    He was clearly miles offside

    Close, but offside

    Phew!

Sexton on - great opportunity! 'mon Johnny!

Its not even remotely close. He should have been penalised before he ever made the tackle. Biggar has taken a huge hit there because the ref didn't enforce the laws.

That's the third brainless attempt offload from Biggar and very nearly punished.

Edit: and hooked straight off. No harm, forcing it all game. Headless.
