Has anybody found a good pair of headsets (wired) that work with the phone?

I tried a couple but all of them have the same problem, the volume down button does not work, seams whatever is configured here is not compatible with most headsets.

    A shame really.

Just wondering is it possible to get these unlocked handy enough?

I have the Smart Ultra 6 and was able to get it unlocked for about £2 on eBay, if I was to get the Smart Platinum 7 will I be able to get it unlocked handy enough or will it cost an arm and a leg?

Anyone on here get theirs unlocked? Would be curious to know where you got it done and roughly how much it cost?

Is everyone on here happy with theirs? Any issues? Any chance of it being updated to Nougat?

    Hi Vectra,

Thanks for that, appreciate you taking the time out to help :)

I actually spotted that seller on eBay earlier and have sent them a message to see if they're able to unlock those on the Irish Vodafone network as they only specify UK on their ad.

Will update once I get a response from them in case anyone else is curious :)

These claim they can do it in the item description. Got unlock codes for different phones from them in the past. Very quick and professional.

Last year when the product released out freshly, I was willing to buy it, but there were few unlock codes, impossible of rooting or less popularize in the market, and no news for Nugat upgrade, so I gave up to buy it.

The vodafone 7 platinum is actually Alcatel Idol 4s, 6070o, 6070k etc..

I spotted the unlock code for the model in the ebay, but I can't find it now, I think the model doesn't much popular and they don't spends fee to ads on the ebay.
if you want, you'd better to unlock it with googling with alcatel 6070k unlock code something...

Vodafone 8 prime series will be out soon, if I were you, I would wait new model from vodafone.

The V8 looks very nice, brushed steel. I'll be getting that one as an upgrade on my Platinum 7

I don't think I'm going to choose another Vodafone branded system.

While I like my SP7 the fact that the security updates are just not coming (1 since it was launched) and there is virtually no interest from Vodafone to ensure that their hardware partner is pushing those out make me look to other solutions.

Seriously, nobody cares about updates. There are no must-have features with Nougat, the OS is near enough complete with Marshmellow

If you are happy to run on a security upgrade from last October than that's fine by me.

I like my phone at least to get the latest os security upgrades.

Alcatel doesn't release any newer phones any more as much as other Chinese manufacturers. For example, their newest flagship, A5 LED which showed at MWC(Mobile World Congress) at 2016, is released now this month with android 6, marshmallow, while other companies are considering the next of the next version android O?

I guess Alcatel has financial problems or something, and Vodafone are going to change their system.

    A miracle happened today.

I'm now on Security Update Level of June 5 with firmware 6.0.1-170 FGN1.

A security update.. Man, all it took was complaining, threatening them that the device was not fit for purpose in light of recent revelations about security holes and that I would revert my credit card charges plus several calls to the escalation team in Dublin.

Looks like Vodafone finally got TCL to issue patches.
