They haven't been mentioned a huge amount in relation to Chinese phones but there's a big thread on boards about them in the photography section. Great prices, sometimes stock is an issue but a lot of people have bought with success.

After 19 months of trouble free using my note 3 took a fall and smashed.
Orderd note 4 from gizchina EU stock.
Orderd at 11pm Monday, was here at 2pm weds.
    Amazing service.

Phone itself is brilliant for the money once again. Have 4g when I never had with the note 4.
Camera is still meh but over all very good phone.

Slight issue if anyone could help?
When I get any notification eh SoundCloud, messenger, fb etc the notification bar displays "...." As if I have to many other notifications which I might only have just the one?

Anyone any ideas? Have to drag down to see what the notification is for?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm looking at this as an option to replace my oneplus one.

    https://www.honorbuy.com/1108-xiaomi-redmi-4x-prime-international-version-32gb-black.html

Is it much of an upgrade and also would be be any issue using this model in Canada?
If not, would anyone recommend an upgrade from oneplus one for a similar price.
    TIA

The Canadians use B13 for long range coverage, as you guessed it, canadas huge, so you'll have lower 4G coverage. Getting a chinese handset that has full 4G coverage there will likely be difficult.

Any of these managed to crack a good camera yet? For my last couple this has been the only difference I notice from flagships in day to day use

Does the mi5 not have a great camera. Just reading and watching reviews of it and the camera is the one thing that they say stands out. Which rivals galaxy s7 and iPhone 7.

I'm in the market for a new phone myself and I am exploring the Chinese phones as an alternative to the the known flagships.

Anyone have experience with the mi5 camera?

One thing important to me on a phone is the camera.

For anyone on a tight budget, I was recommended the Redmi 4x here a few weeks ago.
There's no comparison between this, and what you'd pick up in Carphone Warehouse for similar money. Delighted with it.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

    Missed this before. As expected:
Chinese conglomerate LeEco is laying off a majority of its US workforce, the company announced today. Around 70 percent, or 325 employees, will be cut from its Stateside operations, with LeEco citing a lack of funding as the reason for the reduction. The company will keep operating in the US, but with a ?focus on the narrower segment of Chinese-speaking households,? according to CNET. The news comes just a few days after CEO Jia Yueting announced he was stepping down from running Leshi, LeEco?s holding company, in order to focus on LeEco.

I just bought one off honorbuy for my wife. €186 for the 3GB/32GB global version.

Well whatever about the phone, I'm impressed with Honorbuy.com. Ordered it late Friday night and just got a text from DHL telling me it will be here in the morning. OK, it's €30 for delivery but that's good service.

Anyone have an experience with the xiaomi mi5? Currently on the look out for a new phone and I am looking at the mi5. The usual flagships such as samsung etc have just gone way to expensive, there the mi5 looks on paper as a great alternative flagship.

Would like to hear some user experiences before committing to the purchase.

Also looking to purchase either on honorbuy or gearbest, are both sites reliable?

    I'd pick Europe. And insure
Times are usually fairly accurate. Majority stuff IV ordered has arrived later rather then earlier.

Customs will be 23%+6€/15€ fee usually

Ps . Is the 239$ already including promo?

Would you not check to see if they have it in stock in the EU Warehouse? It'll be more expensive but you'll get it within a week and you don't have to mess with custom charges.

Hi thanks for reply The price before promo is $223.99 and the promo is GBMi5H (or Mi56GBF) which brings it to $199.99 plus the $5 insurance and $0.72 postage.
It is posted in the Boards Gearbest coupon codes

Solid phone for the presale price.

    https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-doogee-mix

The XiaoMi Mi5 does not have LTE band 20 800mhz. I would need it living in the sticks.

Thanks for reply, Whats LTE band 20 800mhz. I also live in the sticks and only decent providers that give coverage are Three and vodafone sometimes get as high as 3g

Is anyone else having issues with the Redmi not 4 after automatic updates?
Every time there is an update the proximity sensor stops working & I can't hang up after a call. Even worse, if a call goes to voicemail, I can't hang up & end out leaving a long voicemail! It's really starting to piss me off!!

Had a look around to see if the XiaoMi Mi5 64GB 4G could be sourced from EU warehouse and the only one I could find was from Teknistore for €257.99 plus an extra €20 shipment.
    But even then I'm not sure if it includes vat and taxes etc, as on Kimovil it says;
    Store country : China
    Shipment from: Netherlands

If I order it from Gearbest with the promo code it works out at €183 which includes shipping and insurance and then from what others are saying I will be hit by a 23% customs charge €42 plus handling upto €15. So total from gearbest €240

Besides the fact that this phone does not have Band 20 which I think I could live with seems as 4g is never going to get to my home anytime soon. Is there any other cons I should be looking at.

Has anyone found the mi5 in black? I was never a fan of white phones!

Just got an mi5s from Honorbuy, very good service I have to say. The delivery was expensive, but at least it was coming from europe, so I didn't have to worry about potential customs charges.

Phone seems great, the only issue I have is that android Pay doesn't seem to work, it thinks I've got an unlocked/custom rom on the phone. Still investigating, but it's the only disappointing part of it so far.

Thanks for the feedback catibthebox, you might keep us posted and how you progress with the phone and let us know what the camera and battery are like?

Thats "Safetynet". Not sure about Xiaomi but lots of chinese phones dont have google services built into the system partition so I suspect they can't pass.

Custom roms use Magisk or other to "hide" this fact from google apps.
