Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I missed most of the first half, but how has AWJ gone? Haven't seen a huge amount from him in the 30 mins I've seen.

    Meh.

Webb on now and we'll open them up imo. Laidlaw way too conservative in his decision making.

Sexton was fine. Did nothing dramatic but distributed and tackled well. Teo having a good game because Sexton is putting him into space.

He distributed well, except for the times when he didn't.

Thought Sexton was outperformed by Gatland myself

Yeah Gatland was certainly the better of the two in the first half. Wonder why he wouldn't come up north

Game has started to turn. Baa-baas making the errors now. Lions not having to do much now.

    Well except convert. Jesus.

That's Biggar to start the tests so.

I think people are over reacting to Sexton, made a few mistakes yeah, but it wasn't the shocker some are making out. Had some good moments as well.

Well this all started with ak. saying Sexton was one of Lions "good" players today - he wasn't terrible, but he didn't exactly play well either

Right call to kick at goal but terrible miss.

    Bring Sexton back on :pac:

I'm starting the Gatland for Connacht bandwagon now

    I don't rate Moriarty tbh.

Sexton was awful by his standards. One of the good players my backside.

Cobwebs not being shaken off here at all.

    Shocking really

I can't imagine Sexton will have come off thinking he played well. Not sure any of them can. Unfortunately with such a short tour you need to be taking your chances straight off the bat. Faletou would be my pick so far.

Barnes' obsession with Farrell is hilarious.

Shock horror, could Hansen have been right about the schedule and the timing of this game......

Not been mentioned on commentary but Furlong has melted a couple of rucks in the time he's been on.

Seymour been quietly decent in a game with limited ball.

He already did that gig. Possible alright, but I dont think he would come back at this stage.

I used to not rate him but he's had some amazing games in recent times so I'm starting to admit I might be wrong. He's a shout for the 20 jersey I reckon

Faletau, T'eo, Best have been good today, Sinkler has had his moments too bar that quick tap.

    Warburton did nothing today.

He has actually. Carried well and some typical dominant clear outs.

This is really the only rugby he ever seems to particularly care about.

Plenty clearly delighted to see Sexton supposedly fail, some having a bit of fun.

I was listening to Talksport commentary and they seem to believe that Farrell has contributed a fair bit to the team since he came on. Shane Williams I think it was initiating that particular discussion.

Not a good sign when basic skills of ITM players out shining the best of the NH

I'm not sure Webb has passed the ball yet, didn't think it was possible for him to boxkick more than Laidlaw

The Lions are one jammy try away from a very embarassing loss here.

Farrell has done very well! His game management has been fantastic!

Sexton just looked very off the boil today.. on today(and I know you can't go just on today) he should be nowhere near the test squad

Other than his first few mins has Farrell really shown up well? Or at least any better than Sexton?

They are all being thrown by the change in aspect ratio of the ball. Finely honed skills are upset by tiny margins. It will take them a few weeks to adapt to it.

I would say so, yes. Passed much better and those little kicks including the one that nearly led to Webb getting in

Has it? Most of the territory gained by the lions has been Webb box kicks and Barbarians errors.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Jesus, they could lose this. Momentum looked to have turned but that missed penalty out an end to that. It's all the baa-baas now....

Think it was a bit of a Cardiff Blues'y performance myself.

My opinion on Sexton has changed a bit. He was forcing things and his passing was ropey, but he was trying stuff and attempting the wide attacking ball. We've done nothing in attack in the last half hour. There have been players a lot worse than him this evening.

May as well blame the coriolas effect :D

I'm not sure id say it's been special. But game management is not just about territory

Are the Lions trying to lose this?

Don't think that was legal from mako, lucky.

Yes it is quite off-putting that passes spin the opposite direction in the bottom hemisphere

Dunno, had to go for my 3 S's not long after he came on, hence listening to radio commentary untill the last 10.

No, but it's one aspect of it.

The Lions have completely lost control in the last 15 mins

Looked like he was through the middle, the replay wasnt a great angle to show it.

    Bit of a shocker overall.
