But you agree that it's not 'a lot' of meat? Because your statement that 'a lot of meat is disgusting and needs chemicals' to make it fit for consumption is totally erroneous and could make some people afraid that meat is somehow contaminated.
    That wasn't my statement.

Apologies, I got you and Effects mixed up. 'Pink slime' is generally used for stuff like hotdogs and cheap chicken nuggets, so if you don't eat them you don't have to worry about it.

Contrary to the popular idea that cats should drink milk, they really, really shouldn't.

Apparently they do fine on raw milk. Well, according to a relative in Monaghan who's a dairy farmer and whose cats love the stuff. Interestingly, they add the amino Taurine to cat's food as cooking denatures it and cat's apparently don't do too well with cooked food. Wasn't known at the time of the infamous Pottenger's Cats study 80 or so years ago but it would explain some of his observations in hindsight.

Most vegans feed their cats and dogs food which they should be feeding them but there are many out there who do not, and some don't even supplement their diets either. Their pets always look manic to me. Google 'Freelee The Banana Girl' and you'll find the most notorious of them.

If cats get even a taste of milk early on I find it's very difficult to get them to take water going forward. My cat will wait all day and then drink some water when she comes in, and always only about 1/3 of what's in the bowl. Whereas now she will start climbing up on things to get closer to the milk carton if she sees it out. Such is life. Woe betide anyone who starts an animal eating the same food they eat, it's a hard job getting back to the pet food.

My ex's mother used to feed her dog chocolate whenever she was having some (a little bit everyday after dinner)

I said to her one day "you known that's toxic for her right?" And she says "Ah I do yeah but she likes it!"

What do they feed their animals?

My - Canine - gets fed live meat on occasion. Meat I give a 2 second head start to normally.

    He eats well :)

Sorry to bump a very old thread but I was going to post a new topic about this. Do PETA seriously want people to feed their dogs and cats a Vegan diet ?

Remember that bit in Shirley Valentine with the dog who was deprived of meat because their owner was a vegetarain? And then Shirley gave him a steak, much to the fury of her husband?!

Ha! great movie. And she got her baps out.

I don't know, I always bought my meat from butchers/supermarkets. I wouldn't have thought meat was that easy to come by in stone age times. They probably survived on more berries and and non meat stuff. But I do have a sense of humour.

They did, which the women collected/gathered. The men 'hunted' sweet **** all.

if you are asking if PETA are serious then the answer is very much yes. If you are asking if they should be taken seriously then the answer is no.

Well they're hardly going to take the stance of it's alright to kill animals to feed your pets, are they?

I don't see any issue with it if dogs/cats can live healthily on a vegan diet. I don't have dogs/cats or know if that's the case so can't comment.

Why the hate for vegetarians/vegans? I'm vegetarian, my husband isn't and I don't try to influence him to stop eating meat. We have 4 cats who eat a high protein diet of human grade tinned food, supplemented with raw meat and raw chicken. Of course there are morons who will try to force a veggie diet on their pets but most aren't that fricking thick. People are always ranting about vegetarians/vegans, you see very few threads on Boards where vegetarians/vegans criticise people who eat meat. I find these kind of threads very juvenile tbh.

I remember the first time I was in a Mazi Zoo shop. A guy working there came over and started telling me about their products and how high their quality was. He went on to tell me that when he was being interviewed one of the lads interviewing him took up one of the cans he was showing him, opened it and proceeded to demonstratively eat the dog food, saying that there was nothing in it which a human would not eat.

Course they love it, but humans love food that's no good for them either.
Cow milk is supposed to feed baby calves, not adult cats.

It explains all the scuttery cat sh*te I see around farms when cats have full access to cows' milk.
