I listened to the chap with Philip Boucher Hayes on RTÉ. Wasn't good enough for some, he is still guilty. Needs to go on the Late Late show with ID and prove himself still

Thinking about it in context its amazing how stupid some people actually are it really is, all it takes is one person to put up a post on social media stating a certain sex offender is seen in the local town with no proof or evidence to back up that claim, and such as post can whip up people into a hysteria based on hearsay when not one bit of proof has been provided or given .

This isn't an apology, it's making excuses.

There was no 'community spirit' involved here, it was pure malice stemming from an inability to think logically and not jump to conclusions.

To be honest I don't think there is any apology that would enough to make up for what was done to this poor man.

It's very reminiscent of that comic series (and movie) Watchmen. Ozymandias (Kildare Now/That woman) use the threat of an alien invasion (paedos), with the destruction of New York (accusing an innocent man) as an acceptable price in order to bring the World (the village) together.

I can think of tens if not hundreds of thousands of apologies they could make that could help though. A bit like if you see someone collapse or have a seizure in public and wish you were a doctor, this is the kind of situation where you really would love to be a solicitor, because those scumbags (which is all they are) deserve to be brought down several pegs in a very public manner over this, and the victim deserves at least to be given the financial security to move away from the area should he wish without any burden in doing so.

I was reading about a case in the States recently where a decorated Marine got the living sh1t kicked out of him in a mistaken case of Stolen Valor. Mob justice can not be tolerated in any form, it's too easy to spread rumours and whip up anger or fear.
