Why is so hard to find a nice pair of denim dungarees?

Jack and Jones have a solid variety of jean styles available.

What age are you, OP? If you are over 35 then you should really question if jeans of any description are suitable for you. Especially if you have the Irishman syndrome of fat arse, matchstick legs and protruding beer belly.

Bootcut jeans are horrific and you can't actually buy them in most European countries where men actually care about their appearance.

If you do feel you have the body to wear jeans then go for a straight cut or low rise pair in a dark colour. Hugo Boss have some lovely sensible styles.

Why is it near impossible to get non skinny bootleg jeans?? I've tried four shops today to get the same as I already own. But noooooo. None.

I look like a robot trying to wear them. Awful yokes.

All I want is jeans with wider more comfortable leg and bootcut.

I dont care what the fashion is, just want them to feel comfortable.

Screw you jean making fascists. Wonder who I can blame for this?

Pennys have stretch boot cut jeans.....sooooo comfortable;)

So what should a man over 35 wear? Corduroy trousers??

The thing about a fashion faux pas like skinny jeans, is that when people look back at pictures from now in 20 years time... it's only then that the full realisation of how stupid they looked will sink in! lol

It happens to every generation. For some reason there is always a section of society that cannot see how ridiculous they look in the moment. But it's totally worth the wait to see them recoil in horror at some point in the future!! :D

Perhaps there are some people, for which mirrors are rather pointless... as they cannot reliably tell what looks good or bad just from looking in a mirror?? Maybe they are relying solely on the opinion of others or just blindly following a particular trend? :P

Wear whatever we want. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    Most jeans are ageless.

I wear a slim tapered. Not tight nor baggy, just right.

Yes, because the next step after jeans is corduroy trousers. Don't be so dramatic. There reaches a point where wearing bootcut jeans, converse runners and a hoody just makes a man look silly - the sartorial equivalent of using Just for Men hair dye.

Chinos come in a wide range of colours and styles. They work well with shirts, casual jumpers and jackets. They are also much more flattering than the dreadful light blue Wrangler bootcuts beloved of many Irishmen. They should be declared illegal by the United Nations Fashion Council.

Just get 'straight cut' jeans if you don't want skinny/slim fit. Boot cut are horrendous looking yokes. Almost as bad as men in skinny jeans.

Exactly this. Always wonder who the fook wears these. Look like flares from the 70s. Don't even know why they are an option...

A man looking for a pair of boot cut jeans wont have the same style as Aongus Von Bismarck!

What are you going to suggest next, a sport jacket/blazer? :pac:

Men's fertility rates and sperm counts are already on a major downward trajectory without skinny jeans making it much worse.

There's a reason why your balls hang out of your body!

Skinny jeans on an attractive slim young lady - fine. On a 20something hipster lad - silly. On a bulging guy of 48 - abomination!

I've pretty much given up on getting comfortable jeans nowadays. I'm 6"2 and 34" waist, but i have to buy 36+ and strangle them with a belt if i don't want to lose all circulation to my man parts.

If you ever see a guy wearing skinny jeans and also crossing their legs... you really should be asking serious questions about them...

That combination would land me in A&E every time!! :(

    Isn't this sexist though?

I mean you no one's forcing you to wear skinny jeans or surround yourself with people who do, but to claim as a fact that men look bad in skinny jeans is arrogance...no?

When you reach a certain age (for men, I mean) then the trendy boutiques just don't cut it anymore for practical well fitting trousers. It's practically impossible for me at 42 to get into anything by TK Maxx and I'm not even a "big" guy.

It seems the boutiques are aimed at skinny 20 something models. Body fascists!! :(

Bootcut jeans are terrible looking. Big, proper flares, on the other hand, are timeless, but it's a hard look to pull off and it seems to have gone completely out of fashion in this part of the world. It's no loss, really, but there will always be people that make it work and more power to them. But bootcut... ughh. Flares for people with no flair.

When I win the lotto I will open a not for profit clothes shop for older gentlemen who want to buy loose fit clothes from the 90's

They're kinda not. Pretty much the 1970's, followed by utter disdain for the trend, until memories got short and the next generation who never knew of the derision.

    People talk such nonsense.

Bootcut jeans are far from horrific, hyperbole much.

Wear whatever the fcuk you want, who cares. Jeans that look like they are painted on actually do look horrific though, if people can see your balls the jeans are too tight.

Nah they are terrible. There's comfortable and there's taking the piss.

If you close your fly people won't see your balls. Plus they won't get cold. Win win.

The TK Maxx stores in Jervis and Stephen's Green are well stocked with waist sizes 34 and above , and, unusually for a modern fashion outlet, heavily favour straight leg over skinny or slim-fit jeans.

Unless they've undergone a complete overhaul over the last five days, or their other outlets offer a drastically different selection, at least one part of your story doesn't check out. Bar M&S, I couldn't think of a major franchise more accommodating to corpulent individuals.

    Can someone please explain?

Why are tracksuits 'not accepted' but not condemned like skinny jeans on a man?
Because "fashion" won't allow it, even though they should be eradicated from existence. Tracksuits however, serve at least some minor purpose.

Bootcut jeans are atrocious, anyone who thinks they look good needs a jean transplant ( get it ) I know silly joke, but saying that, these super skinny jeans you see young gombeens wearing are just as bad. What the hell ever happened to wearing just straight fit jeans ?
