What do you miss about After Hours?

Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Instagram have all emerged in the last 10 years and with it has seen a change in the way we interact, an evolution (desecration) in the way we communicate and a threat to the hallowed message forum.

In short a lot of sh1t has changed.

During the golden era of After Hours (2008-2012), there would very rarely be a single thread that didn't contain at least one of the following posts:

"Pics or GTFO." - if you revealed yourself as female.

"PM Sent ;)" - to any said females who committed the mortal sin of confirming they are indeed single.

"+1" instead of actually typing up a post on why you agree with someone, +1 had you covered.

"FYP" - the old 'I hilariously edited your post'.

"Massive Use of Spaces to get to the...."

    *punchline in really small writing

"Pighead in epic third-person hilarity posts"

"Thinly veiled "I have a ..." Boast" - when anyone mentioned anything actually positive about their life, like having a girlfriend or a fancy cheese grater.

"About three fiddy" - the only mature response to any question related to numbers.

"In before the Lock" - when you knew a thread was going nowhere. (Ok smart-asses knock yourselves out with reply #1).

"Your ma" - 2 decisive words in anyone's lexicon.

A salute to the old days when we were a lot younger and slightly less un-cool.

It really highlights how bad this place is when a fella offering kicks in the face, an idiot talking about taking shíts along with "blast it with piss" and "yore ma" being posted in every single thread is considered the golden age of the forum....

Threads getting derailed massively, like the one about Abercrombie & Fitch.
The thread was about beautiful people only in their advertising and hiring, and body shaming.

The thread became a discussion between two people about what they had bought there, what you couldn't get in the Irish store, what they bought on their recent shopping trips to the USA.

Next you'll be telling me Gigli isn't a good movie.

The lore of pighead and all them unfunny gowls are insufferable.

Its just watching a group of unfunny middle aged people trying to be funny, the people who adore them i mean.

I'm neither under the age of 20 or familiar with this movie you speak of. But I get the feeling I'm better off not knowing about it.

I miss when people just enjoyed the site instead of complaining that the best days are gone. :(

The best things are always in the past. People are obsessed about nostalgia and seem to forget the past was possibly as crap as what's going on right now.

    Dating stories

    Feeky Magee and his teacher
Bryan and that Ciara who worked in the local petrol station

    Spot the re-reg

I don't miss all the stupid phrases. AH just used to be really ****ing funny with really ****ing witty posters, don't know what happened. Its all gender and immigration now, no interesting quirky threads

But it still has its moments. And its good for news updates, and get people's opinions on current issues

The threads about how AH "isn't as good as it used to be" aren't as good as they used to be.

What the fcuk was face kicker about , he asked if you'd like a kick in the face , if that's the golden era I'm away off out of here , come to think of it there's very few forums with the diversity of after hours .

Forestry and farming forum , they just agree with one another and hound out anyone that doesn't agree with them or goes against farming

Cycling forums , every one in a car is a cnut

Soccer forums , Irish people fighting over English teams and referring to " their team " in the first person

Lgbt forum , I'm a victim of discrimination in Ireland in 2017 , this must be what it was like for black people in Alabama in the 50s

Religious and atheists forums , my non belief in the great sky fairy in the clouds is more important than your belief in the great sky fairy in the clouds , praise be unto Allah or whoever the fcuk you're into these days

At least in after hours you can have a bit of banter and a bit of lateral thinking , it's not one big circle jerk of people agreeing with everything in the op and back slapping each other on their similarities

I could post in a few other forums like farming or soccer but I think too much agreement is as bad as too much disagreement , in after hours people seem to get it right a lot of the time

True. most subforums are comparatively dead in terms of number of posters as well
