Green Cert/Farm Transfer

Hi,

We have a small farm (<15 acres) that my dad is considering transferring into my name.

I'm aware that previously the green cert was required to avoid tax but is this still the case for small farms?

Also, is the green cert required to obtain grants and payments. My dad has never had one and was always entitled so I don't see why it should be different for young farmers.

Finally, does anyone have suggestions on who might be the best people to advise on these matters. I was thinking Teagasc but will they advise if you are not a member?

The green cert is needed to have a Nil stamp duty liability

You may still be liable to CAT and your father liable to CGT

With only 15 acres would what the op would save not be nearly as much as the cost of doing the green cert?
