Ways people play dumb when you make a good point!

Do you ever notice how people are inclined to play dumb all of a sudden when you make a great point. It's like it's they're only way not to acknowledge it. But of course what annoys you is that you're not completely certain of it. Watch out for it! If you're amongst a group of people and you're about to make a good observation, (but your place in the hierarchy is low) all of a sudded you may notice someone bang a door or cough!

I noticed it just recently, after my father heard about a little dispute between me and a sibling of mine. He went to speak to me. I detected that his solution was basically to appease the other sibling (she can throw massive tantrums!). He said something like "I don't want that kind of stuff happening in future - look, it's really not a bid deal now is it?"

I then called a spade a spade and said "so you're saying I should appease her?" He looked at me as if he didn't know what I meant, and said "what?" I felt like saying "I know you know what appeasement means!" Perhaps he just wasn't expecting me to say that at that moment, but he certainly acted like he didn't get the point I made. He then restated what he already said, and I sarcastically replied "appeasement, appeasement, appeasement... I get it!" It was so ironic, giving that my dad passionately read out an article in the paper last week all about how RTE are appeasing Sinn Fein.

The other thing, is that hitting the nail on the head, can involve using big words! I was debating with a cretin recently, and ended up hitting the nail on the head, by saying "that's quite a euphemism now isn't it?" But of course being a cretin, he didn't know what a euphemism was! What do you do!

No, when I make a good point people press my belly button and their name appears below the point I just made.

And welcome to adulthood and noticing things.

my daughter told me to stop using big words op, because she said people will think I'm just trying to be smart. It actually worked and I try being much dumberer when I talk now.

I love it when a smart arse buck gets his knickers in a twist over his father telling him to grow the **** up and stop rowing with his sister.

I hate when said smart arse decides his father's words of wisdom and refusal to entertain cheek from his offspring results in internet posts which show that smart arse is petty and argumentative.

You think your old man is playing dumb? Ha!

When I was a teenager, I once masturbated to a picture of President McAleese in the RTE Guide.

Right or wrong, it is actually poor form that you would talk to your father like that. Respect for your elders is a sign of character you know. In times gone by, a solid shoe up the ar*e would have been administered for that kind of attitude, and a post like that makes you wonder why that isn't the case any more.

So what you are saying is you lacked the ability to get your message across?
Again, this kind of attitude reflects poorly on you. It also shows how much you have to learn. Don't be surprised when such 'cretins' achieve more than you do, while you are busy hitting the nail on the head... Bottom line, nobody else give a sh*t if you are right or not, if you act like an a**h*le doing it.

Now I appreciate you didn't ask for a life lesson, but I also appreciate how sorely you need one.

Moraliser! The best you can do is say the things you're expected to say. As usual, I can predict every word out of your mouth.

Everyone has respect for their elders by default. It doesn't t take courage to submit. That sort of attitude played a part in why the priests abused so many children.

And you wouldn't understand the relationship me and my dad have. I'll call him out on bull****. I'm not just going to let him win because he's old. Yes, many would let him win - but would they're thoughts actually be influenced by what he said? At least he knows where he stands with me.

Now you can come by to moralise & enjoy the likes your post will get, or you can put your ego aside & admit that you've learned something from me. After all, it's all anonymous here.
