The Bond I grew up with, he only did an Audience with Roger Moore here recently. RIP and thanks for brightening my childhood with your awesome films! He's up there with the rest of the Wild Geese now :)

The spy who loved me. The only bond movie I'd like to see remade/updated.

My favourite Bond film, I've no time for the new ones, but The Spy Who Loved Me was amazing for a kid. Jaws, Egypt, Underwater evil boss lairs, sharks, that Lotus that went underwater. I even had a computer game of it. And by far the best Bond song of them all :)

Also The Spy Who Loved me ultimately gave us this!

Think Hardy Kruger is still with us!

Ahh pity. Still he had a good innings and lovely chap by all accounts. The eyebrow drops for the last time.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Very sad news , he was the best Bond ... and should have still been playing Bond until the latest movies.

Yes, he was much better than Connery IMO

Met him several years ago when he was talking in UCD. He had great stories about his life. Was hilarious when he was talking about working with Grace Jones.

Some lad got up in the middle of it and asked him to sign a picture of Sean Connery, quoting the Simpsons episode. Was pretty cringy but being the gent that he was, he obliged.

    Two words: Submarine Car!

    Best Bond ever imo.

His dad was a London policeman. And he came from the same part of London as Michael Caine. I never knew that :)

    He became a UNICEF ambassador.

He's not really gone, you know.

You only live twice, Mr Bond!

In terms of favourites, he comes close behind Lazenby , Craig, Dalton, Connery and Brosnan. The Spy Who Loved Me is probably my favourite (of his).

    RIP

I know people are talking a lot of James Bond as thats where he is most recognizable but he was also great in The Saint.

The first Bond to die. 89 is a decent age.
In recent years his account was often one of the first out on twitter messaging once someone passed on. Today it is Roger himself but I'm sure he was delighted at the life he got.

Was only in Dublin at the Bord Gais and on the late late last October/November I think.

Heard the news and raised an eyebrow.

    He would have liked that.

His acting ability was entirely concentrated in his left eyebrow. If he had ever been in a terrible accident and lost all control of his body, bar his eyebrow, he could still keep you up all night in conversation.

And if he ever deserved condolence and sympathy, it was for bedding grace jones in view to a kill. THATS dedication to the job :P

Seemed a like a good bloke.

I like all the bonds. But the Moore era was my favourite. I liked him in his other movies too.

No one has mentioned Jenny Flex, the lovely Alison Doody, yet?
Bond: "Well dear, I take it you spend a lot of the time in the saddle"
Jenny Flex: "Yes, I love an early ride"
Bond: "I'm an early morning riser myself"

That's doing his right eyebrow a great disservice

A funny, warm and old school gent.

I never knew Alison "WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULDNT BE LIVING HEEEEEEERE" Doody was a Bond girl. She just keeps on giving. Still a total babe.

Grace Jones is magnificent and still looking great at 70. No sympathy whatsoever required.

No way, man. Unless you're into supremely aggressive, masculine, ferocious-eye-ball amazonians...

...which some are I suppose :P
