    What mess?
The division has made very little progress since November imo.

Khabib is more to blame for the division being in the **** imo, I do think if he has no defence scheduled by nov he should be stripped.

I doubt they'll be quick to strip him of this belt like they were the FW. He has supposedly has 2 fights left on his contract and he says he wants to leave when they're done [most likely a negotiation tactic] they'll keep the belt on him so his contract automatically extends via Champion's clause if he gets too difficult.

PBF just said live on boxnation that he believes the fight with Conor will go ahead.

I'll believe it when they're in the ring.

Lighttweight isn't a mess tho. There's clear cut no1 contender for him to fight

Tony v Khabib were booked, Khabib won't fight until Autumn now.

    Alvarez fighting Porier again.

Nate lost his last fight to Conor.

Light weight isn't as staked as it once was or is made out to be.

Would be nice to see Barboza get a shot at some stage.

Conor should be stripped, he won the belt back in December and hasn't defended and its not due to injury, its due to him "taking time off for Dees pregnancy". Now taking time off for the pregnancy he probably deserves due to being so big in the UFC and bringing in $$$ but after that lay off he should be defending the belt before he goes off and does this boxing sh!t.

It's now May. On no planet should he be stripped yet as much as this Mayweather crap annoys me.

By that logic most of the current champions should probably be stripped as well...

He was even talking about fighters from his camp that would be on the undercard

Bisping is the only fighter that should be stripped! What a mess that division is.

The Henderson fight and GSP booking were not Bispings fault. Blame the ufc for those.

So Conor fighting Nate twice while FW champion wasn't his fault either, it was the UFCs??

I see Bisping now has a knee injury that conveniently keeps him out till October..

Conor was due to fight RDA for the LW title at 196. Nate was a late replacement. What's the issue there?

Also, the Bisping fights refered to were actual title defences. A champ doesn't get a say in who the challenger is - or at least they shouldn't.

    What Mellor said.

I don't see what McGregor has to do with you saying Bisping should be stripped anyway. I was responding to your comment about Bisping.
Bisping defended his belt v Hendo and was booked to fight GSP. Neither bookings were his fault and in fairness at least he's active.
An injury is an injury. Sure the timing is convenient but at least he's not saying he wants to go fight in some boxing match.

To be fair McGregor has had 10 fights in the UFC since April 2013 while Bisping has only had 9 in that time. They have also both been injured for roughly the same time. Bisping is in the conference league of money earners for the UFC while Mcgregor is in the Champions league, he's closer to a full billion in revenue while Bisping will never touch a fifth of that over the rest of his career.

McGregor's record compared to Bispings record is much better aswell, with much more dominant wins against better opponents. Holloway, Aldo, Mendes, Diaz and Alvarez all at multiple weights. Bisping hasn't moved weight in over a decade so he's not adding any value to other weight classes in the way Conor obviously does.

The way some people are talking about McGregor lately you would think he owes them money or something.

He owes us nothing. He said it himself "get in, get rich, get out"

I'd rather it be from fighting in some form, boxing or MMA, than making god awful Michael Bay style movie appearances. Which he could have done if he wanted (just look at the budget of the films he was offered parts in), but the detractors choose to forget that. Kind of makes the "he's a running coward who is scared to fight" line look a little bit desperate.

Question - if by some miracle or divine intervention Conor wins, what will you say?

I'll say it was a fluke. But that's not gonna happen so I've nothing to worry about.

I agree that it's not going to happen, but it's pathetic that you have a ready made excuse. I've never seen a more bizarre poster in my life - you absolutely hate Conor with every bone in your body yet you're constantly in this thread to take shots. Why do you even do it to yourself? You'd think you'd stay away from discussion about him. There are plenty of MMA fighters I dislike and it never once entered my mind to constantly seek out discussion about them. It's weird.

That's a consideration many people overlook in all this. Floyd is a boxer and a promoter and there would be no bigger stage than to push his batch of talent. Would be an additional reason he would want the fight.
I'll say it was a fluke. But that's not gonna happen so I've nothing to worry about.

Right so if Conor loses you'll say "I told you so" and if he wins you'll say "lucky punch".

Everyone keeps saying the doomsday scenario for boxing that'd break the internet is Conor KO'ing Floyd.

    I disagree.

The doomsday scenario would be Conor winning the fight on points.

If by some miracle upon miracle, Conor wins on points after 12 rounds you'd still call that a "fluke"?

Tbf bisping mentioned his knee injury couple of months ago on his podcast, its not as if hes making it up to suit gsp and bisping deserves a big money fight hes been there a long time.

I have no interest in seeing gsp fight, that division was a bottle neck for years when he was champion, never once was he in a exciting fight

Bisping does not deserve money fights. Bisping is the guy who worked with the guys who drew money.

Bollocks, as much as i don't really like him as a person if anyone deserves 'money fights' it's bisping, never shied away from a scrap, been 100% loyal to the company and he went through a run where his 3, maybe 4 losses, the opponents all failed piss tests later

Never shied away until now. No he doesn't deserve money fights. He was gifted more #1 Contender fights than anyone else and he always choked. All his highest grossing fights were from his opponents. Vitor,Dan,Anderson, etc.

Bisping couldn't draw flies even if he was covered in ****.

except for the time he won the belt which is all that matters.

And then he hand picked a 48 year old guy who was not even in the top 10. Barely scraped and has been hiding in the corner since.

at least he defended a belt. And he probably hand picked the 48 year old for when he decided to hendobomb his face off when he was alreaDY OUT

Bisping was a douche and deserved it. Maybe Bisping shouldn't run his mouth so much. Especially after barely squeaking by that "old and slow Dan"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,377 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

I've no idea how Dan Henderson pulled off one if the scummiest moves in the octagon. And Bisping is the bad guy there.

The only things remotely similar were Daley after the bell and Palhares holding subs. Both of those guys are considered scumbags.

PMSL you're going on like the ref stopped him and he continued to land the elbow, was totally legal, did you see Bisping after he beat Rockhold rubbing it in?
