Most exciting noise?

Heard a helicopter earlier. It was obviously low flying so like the Pavlov dog I ran outside for a look and then thought...no other noise gets me off the couch so quickly as the noise of a nearby helicopter. Am I the only 40 something who still runs out to see a "chopper"? Are there more exciting noises or is that still pretty much the ultimate?

Thunder is an awesome noise. I wish we had more thunder and lightning in Ireland.

The big Coast Guard choppers fly in over where I play five a side and land in the field next door - the sound the turbo-shaft engines and blades make is something to behold. The sound of big waves crashing against rocks is awesome too.

"Whats your favourite humming noise? Would it be mmm-mmmmm or would it be mmmm-mm? The first one there, now thats the sound of a fridge humming and the second one, now thats the sound of a man humming. You never hear a woman humming."

Memba the crackle of film noise in the cinema right before the main show, the crackle noise when the film censor rating came up then the snap when it cut to the main show? That was most exiting noise for me back then. Now its Sunn O)))

When my dog's that excited to see me he actually tries to speak and comes out with random noises from his mouth, always makes me feel like, wow this guy really thinks I'm fantastic :D

Yes I always run outside when there is a helicopter. It is exciting! The SAR helipcopers often fly over my Mother's house in Kerry.

A belt of 7.62mm being rattled off with the rounds cracking over your head.

The ping from a falling plate being struck.

Helicopters are good when they are low, but I'd vote for a Blackbird SR 71 which flew right over my head as a child and it was the loudest thing ever! :D

If you mean random noises that you hear unexpectedly, I love it when there's a fireworks display in Dun Laoghaire or Sandycove that I haven't heard about in advance, and I just start hearing bangs and crackling sounds while chilling at home, with just enough time to sprint down to the waterfront and catch the show :D

When you finished all the pre-advance shifts for a camping music festival, sitting back cracking open your first can and smoking that first spliff and you hear the bass kick in of the first sound systems getting tested out. I canna feckin wait. :D

When you hear a cuckoo off in the distance and a second one starts answering it from somewhere else. Pretty cool, that :)

back in the day the da had an old camera, which came with an attachable flash.

to take a photo you had to wait for the flash to charge up.

and it would be like some pulse weapon from a sci-fi, waiting to fire a ball of lightning at the aliens.

    it was like ..... PWEDOOOOooooooooo

It would fit well in a movie; five from the north, they're coming right at you. 400 meters.

    - im 3 seconds out.

hit them with the half pulse.

    - no it ends here.

150 meters you have to do it.

    - almost charged.

    50 40 30 ... now now now.

oooooooooooo. Wump wump wump wump wump

sorry, got a bit carried away there.

The purr of a V8 turning over. Rattles right through the chest cavity. Large bije engines have a very similar effect.

I'm not sure that's a thing tbh.. sounds good tho.

Silence.... There's nothing like the sound of silence to get your heart racing, when you have kids.
